Well I just got power back around 4 hours ago. It went out around 6:00ish on Monday night. I live in Staten Island, which is the forgotten borough of New York City. The other are Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx. Other than 9/11 nothing really happens over here. This was fucked up. Trees down all over the place, coastal regions a fucking mess. I am sure you guys heard about it on the news. Hell, I only finally got to watch T.V. today. Some woman not too far from here didn't listen to the evacuation warning, then when she decided to bail out with here 4 and 2 years old kids they go caught real bad by ocean floods. She opened the door and tried to get the kids out cause the car stalled and they all got washed away. She survived supposedly, but nobody knows what happened to her children who are obvious dead.
You see natural disasters hit other places {New Orleans, Tokyo, Indonesia, etc.) and you say to yourself that's crazy, but you quickly move on and forget about it. When it actually happens in your own backyard it really hits home, but figuratively and literally. This is the worst we have even been hit and Katrina, which happened last year or the year before (can't even remember) was the 2nd worse -- and there are still people out there who deny global warming. Unreal. There are so many other crazy stories I heard, but you'll just get depressed. I'll just leave you off with one piece of advice. If you are warned to evacuate your home/area for whatever reason, do it.
