    Hurrican Sandy

Well I just got power back around 4 hours ago. It went out around 6:00ish on Monday night. I live in Staten Island, which is the forgotten borough of New York City. The other are Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx. Other than 9/11 nothing really happens over here. This was fucked up. Trees down all over the place, coastal regions a fucking mess. I am sure you guys heard about it on the news. Hell, I only finally got to watch T.V. today. Some woman not too far from here didn't listen to the evacuation warning, then when she decided to bail out with here 4 and 2 years old kids they go caught real bad by ocean floods. She opened the door and tried to get the kids out cause the car stalled and they all got washed away. She survived supposedly, but nobody knows what happened to her children who are obvious dead.

You see natural disasters hit other places {New Orleans, Tokyo, Indonesia, etc.) and you say to yourself that's crazy, but you quickly move on and forget about it. When it actually happens in your own backyard it really hits home, but figuratively and literally. This is the worst we have even been hit and Katrina, which happened last year or the year before (can't even remember) was the 2nd worse -- and there are still people out there who deny global warming. Unreal. There are so many other crazy stories I heard, but you'll just get depressed. I'll just leave you off with one piece of advice. If you are warned to evacuate your home/area for whatever reason, do it.

luckily, i have never had to experience a natural disaster but being a native of california i've been through some earthquakes that put things into perspective. however, and to your point, i'm that idiot that moves to a city with an increased amount and probability of them all the while living in a high rise building. anyway, speedy recovery and I don't know how you survived without internet, you survivor you.

Historically all he get her is a few bad snow storms time to time, which isn't serious at all and a very weak hurricane every 5 years or so. This was the first time we actually got hit with a pretty strong hurricane. Now what I know what it's like to live in Florida and the Carolina's. This Hurricane was originally a level one, but because of certain conditions it was like a level 3 I heard. The reason why it was bad had much to do with blind luck. It just so happened that when the Hurricane hit it was high tide and a full moon.

Anyway, it was nothing like Katrina, but if you live on the Jesery Shore or near the coast here in New York it was pretty damn bad.

One day when you are out and about your business an huge earthquake is going to hit you, guaranteed. It's just a matter of time. Good luck when that day comes.

No. Just because you have been affected it does not mean that others are destined to the same fate.

I don't believe others are destined to the "same" fate nor do I believe in destiny in the same way religious/spiritual people do. I do however believe in science and if you live in California then live on the Pacific Ring of Fire and as a result there will be earthquakes in your area in the future. If you're a young man -- which I presume you are -- there chances are high that you will witness a powerful earthquake in your life.

From my point of view that comment was far from funny. I just ignored him because I know he's just a dimwit. From you I expect more though.

There will be earthquakes, no shit. Just don't guarantee particulars without support.

Okay, Nostradamus. You lacked insight to the point you needed to be told to evacuate but now you posses the ability to predict natural disasters?

I'm really starting to think that you have not lived at all. Just glad I'm not you(I'm only basing half of this statement on physical appearance).
