Which Org is #2 Bellator or Strikeforce

Was just thinking after the StrikeForce event what organization do you think is #2 now.

Strikeforce has some good fighters, but with them soon getting rid of the HW division they are down to, LHW,MW,WW,LW and Womens 135.
Their cards are usually solid, but are few and far between.

Bellator consistently puts on events, holds tournies and has a pretty big stable of fighters representing every weight category except FLY. Their woman's division is somewhat scattered, mostly concentrating on the 115lb div with the odd 125lb fight.

I didnt include OneFC - they are slowly building a nice roster, just not there yet.

Good question. Strikeforce is UFC's farm team. But Bellator has a lot of talent as well. I guess you have to look at each weight division in each and match them up against the UFC fighters in their same division.

    Lightweight:
Strikeforce - Gilbert Melendez vs Bellator - Michael Chandler vs UFC - Ben Henderson

    Welterweight
Strikeforce - Nate Marquardt vs Bellator - Ben Askren vs - UFC GSP

    Middleweight
Strikeforce - Luke Rockhold vs Bellator - Vacant vs UFC - Anderson Silva

    Light Heavyweight
Strikeforce - Vacant vs Bellator - Christian M'Pumbu vs UFC - Jon Jones

    Heavyweight
Strikeforce - Daniel Cormier vs Bellator - Cole Konrad vs UFC - Junior Dos Santos

Nothing pops out at me to tell me which one is better. I am just glad we have other options other than UFC.

You only mentioned the champions of each organization, which is hardly indicative of what organization is better. When you said, "nothing pops out at me" where you referring to just Strikeforce and Bellator or where you also including the UFC?

Yeah looking at the champs is one thing, but the depth of each roster is another.
Bellator has more fighters. But is it necessarily better?

Good observation. The original question was who is # 2. Bellator or Strikeforce. I just paired champs to champs. I didn't go in to depth. There are so many different ways of looking at it to say who is # 2. And I guess it really doesn't matter who is #2.

"Nothing pops out at me" means that I can't distinguish between Bellator fighters and Strikeforce fighters and who has the better fighters as a whole organization. So yes, I didn't answer the question because in my opinion both orgs have great fighters in all weight classes. I am just happy we have other orgs we can watch besides the UFC. Makes things interesting.

After thinking about it I see it this way:

The LHW, MW, WW and LW divisions are very close.
I give the edge to Bellator in LHW
MW goes fairly easily to Strikeforce
WWis really close since Daley went to Bellator, but with the emergence of Nate Im going with Strikeforce.
LW is a draw, unless Bellator loses Eddie to the UFC then Strike force gets th upper hand.

As for the intangibles such as more weight divisions and frequency of Cards as well as tournies(which I like greatly) it has to go to Bellator

So everything is very close but I think I am going with Bellator as the #2 org
