While on the UFC on FUEL TV “UFC Tonight” program, Fuel reporter, Ariel Helwani, divulged that Anthony Pettis may be interested in dropping down a division to challenge for the UFC featherweight title.

He was in talks to rematch Benson Henderson after the two picked up wins at UFC 144, however Frankie Edgar was able to successfully talk his way into a rematch and that means Pettis got skipped over.

Gilbert Melendez is interested in having Pettis come over for a crack at the Strikeforce strap, but the Pettis camp may have other plans.

I guess there`s a few options for him.

He deserves a title shot somewhere.

If they offered a title shot against Aldo to Edgar, why not Pettis.

Or the other root, go to Strikeforce and fight Melendez. This would give Gilbert a good test and help Strikeforce build a better LW division.

If Pettis doesnt go to strikeforce then I have a feeling that Pat Healy gets the crack at the LW belt. Not knocking Healy`s recent streak and efforts, but I`d much rather see Pettis vs Gil.

I like both options of either Stikeforce LW Title fight or FW title fight.

Pettis isnt a huge LW, but if this is his 1st fight at feather, sure is a tall order against Aldo.

Dana is fucking this kid's career. He has him so demoralized that the kid is now thinking about leaving the division in which he became champion.

What's going to happen now? He's going to go down, fight depleted against a monster and get his ass kicked. Then, he's going back to his original weight class because it's better for him and lose a year or two in the process.
