LOL! Henry Martinez is a former state champ who got a full wrestling scholarship Oklahoma University, he is the head JJ coach at 10th Planet Santa Fe. Assistant coach Luis Castillo is also on his way to becoming a state champ in wrestling. So yeah I grapple some pretty high level wrestlers who also train 10th Planet.

Caio Terra is one of the 2 best roosterweights (127) along with Bruno Malfacine and one of the 3 best light featherweights (141) along with Bruno and Guillerme Mendes. With or without a gi. He has a really awesome half guard and reverse de la riva.

so how do you do against henry with your rubber guard? i bet he runs right through it and taps you about every minute.

i think what he meant was about rubber guard not being used in abu dhabi, worlds, gracies, etc. its true. but i think this is mainly due to it being underdeveloped, and the fact that only a small amount of people are using rubber guard to begin with. (mostly only 10th planet guys. and theres only like... what, 7 black belts under eddie bravo? but maybe in the future it will show up, who knows. but it's definitely effective. the fact that marcello garcia was able to nulify eddie's game is due to him being the best in the world, and also, eddie hasnt competed in years. he seems to be concentrating a lot on his music and not putting in the same effort into his jiu jitsu. the guy is super talented and has crazy skills though.

btw, i also do most of my shit from lock down when i get put on my back. but i usually try to remain on top and i go for a lot of japanese neck ties, darces, marces, or whatever they wanna give me. if i start on bottom i usually go for one legged x guard, or if im starting on my feet i try to use the marcello guard passes. just fyi. what im trying to say is that all of my jiu jitsu ive learned is from 10th planet instructors. alder hampel, scott epstein, jason eisner. and ive learned things in jiu jitsu from guys such as mercello garcia, the mendes brothers, andre galvao, eddie bravo, etc.
10th planet is not about a certain set of things that you can only use. its actually the contrary, its about opening up yuor game, your mind, not setting boundaries, and using whatever is available and whatever is most effective. even the twister is not a 10th planet thing. its actually a wrestling move that one of eddie's h.s. wrestling teammates used to get him in. he learned it, and adapted it to bjj. he has never claimed that he invented it, but he sure has made it famous and has made the most out of it.

I met him in person when I went to his gym. He looks like he is 12. Super young. And he runs two BJJ gyms already in the Bay Area. One in San Jose and one in Dublin.

Shinya Aoki proved rubberguard for me.

I used to criticize it but after seeing Aoki use it in top level MMA to walk through his opponents I became a fan.

Eddie also won me over with his Sasquatch talk jaja, hard to not like a guy when we are obviously very interested in the same things.

We are talking pound for pound. Marcelo is outweighed by Braulio and Jacare by at least 40 pounds each.

Jacare isn't top p4p anymore. In nogi the top p4p guys are Braulio, Marcelo, Galvao, Rafael Mendes. In gi replace Galvao with Rodolfo Vieira. And I guess you can still keep Roger on those lists, but definitely not Jacare.
