I just gone done reading all the books (5, thousand page books in less than two months)... I'm twitching from withdrawls. I need the show!!!

i never touched the books but i'd say the show is definitely worth the download. i downloaded them from demonoid.me and zipped through them on a lazy sunday.

The show was so damn good,that I am holding off on the books as to not ruin the show, since the reverse will not be true and I can enjoy the books after the show is done running.

I've been spoiled as hell with this show I just don't care anymore. I'm also thinking of reading the novels, but I just don't have the time for that right now. I'm watching the show as more of how they'll translate the story from the book.

Might as well read the novels up since part of me thinks the show won't last past the second season. The show is too expensive for HBO to keep renewing it when it is pulling in maybe 2.5 million viewers an episode. Deadwood had the same problem. Each season cost more than $100 million dollars and it was only doing slightly better than Game of Thrones before it was cancelled in season 3. Rome was another show that suffered from the same problems.

I think HBO doesn't really care about the viewers on primetime. I think HBO banks more on DVD and BluRay sales which I bet Game of Thrones will sell a lot.

Yeah, but HBO realized the only reason people subscribe is for these amazing shows. Sopranos, Deadwood, Rome, Carnivale, The Wire.. expensive, yes, but totally changed the face of TV. Once they cancelled all of them, their membership dropped like an anchor (everyone in my family dropped HBO when they stopped making these shows)... They're coming back to what made them with Game of Thrones and Boardwalk Empire... and with multi-billion dollar distribution deals to be made with Netflix, HBO should have the financing. I don't think RR Martin OR HBO would have initated this project without intending to bring it to completion.
