    Josh Neer released from UFC

I suppose Neer really never did elevate his career past that gatekeeper type of role, but damn, I'm going to miss seeing him in the octagon. With fighters like Baroni and Hallman signed to the promotion, you would think Zuffa could find a way to hang on to Neer. I remember seeing him fight for Toad Holler down in Iowa. The guy would run through four fighters a night. Granted the "fighters" were mostly just guys who signed up at the door, but even still, Neer would compete in the tourney just about every week. I'd say he racked up somewhere between 150-200 fights down there that were never even recorded.

How quickly before he lands in Strikeforce? If his pure fighting ability isn't enough, I think we can all agree Strikeforce needs more fighters with tramp stamps.

He can really bang, but his last 2 fights did nothing for him, StrikeForce would be a nice fit.
Good. Bad. I'm the guy with the gun.

Neer is a tough fucking guy. It's unfortunate ufc let him go, his fights even when they're considered boring they are still fun to watch because he has that ability to end a fight with one opening. Oh well.

:) he got it for being hell on his opponent's teeth ... and still having more submission wins than (T)KOs :) It is funny now that I think about it

Neer vs. Gurgel would be a war or even Conor Heun if he fights like he did against Gurgel

In a weaker field of fighters like Strikeforce, Neer could be a contender. He will at least constantly attack so he will be an entertaining guy to have on your undercards.

Neer is never boring and just about very decision he has lost he has done more damage from the bottom and attempted more submisions from the bottom than the guy laying on him. Neer is often a victim of takedowns but vertually never gets damaged and is very hard to hold down. Neer is worth having. He is just plain and simple on the wrong side of many decisions because he doesnt play it safe and isnt scared to get taken down because he can always get up or doesnt get damaged on his back. MMA has a way to go.

you want to know why the UFC did this??

so that when he goes a wrecks some strikeforce guys (or loses for that matter) Dana can now say " look he lost to nate diaz (very close split decision) he lost to pellegrino and tibau. And so if he goes out an wins the title... the UFC could downplay any other organizations title. even tho he owned din and mac

the UFC always does this... they save the horrible fighters... and give away the decent ones so that they dont have a chance of taking out an up and comer
