    ATTN health nuts

    I'm a little conserned, i was gettin drunk last night and i weighed my self before i started drinking and like after i drank like 4 beers. sounds weird but whatever, anyways i gained 5 pounds after drinking 4 beers. Could this be some sort of problem

    water weight and sodium retention... if you keep the weight on I'd be worried but chances are your body is just retaining water and sodium etc...

    well, did you eat anything?

    im not sure how much a fluid ounce of beer equals to regular ounces, but it wouldnt surprise me if its heavier than water. water is close to 1 normal ounce. so thats 3lbs right there. add in any food you ate or if beer weighs more. 5lbs is entirely feasible. of course if you pissed, then it kinda cancels out....

    also i assume you used the same scale, if you didnt, meaningless.

    Beer is a good source of folate.

    European Journal of Clinical Nutrition (2001) 55, 605-609:

    Conclusion: Moderate beer consumption may help to maintain the tHcy levels in the normal range due to high folate content. Folate from beer may thus contribute to the protective effect of alcohol consumption on cardiovascular disease in population with generally low folate intake from other nutrients.

    Instead of weighing yourself while you are drinking wait untill after you piss the next morning. I usually piss so much the night before that I weigh less the next morning.
