*OFFICIAL* Fishing Discussion Thread.

I went fishing today down at the Mississippi River which is about 10-15 minutes away from my apt. I stood on a cement culvert and used a nightcrawler and a bobber to catch my first 2 fish which was a Catfish in the first photo and a Smallmouth Bass in the second photo. The cat maybe weighed a couple pounds. Not very big.






I took the bobber off and jigged right infront of the culvert and got a nice hit right away. It was a bout a 3-4lb Northern. I had him on for about 20 seconds and he snapped my line because they have razor sharp teeth and I was not using a leader. I also caught another smaller smallmouth bass using a Beetle Spin. I only fished for 2 hours.

nice catches bro, do you keep the fish to eat or do you throw em back.

I went back to the same spot on the Mississippi River today. This is the culvert that I fish off of.



My first fish was a Northern.


My second fish is some kind of blue Catfish.



My third fish is another Northern that was 22"-24" approx 5-6 lbs.

I threw them all back. They were out of the Mississippi river + I hate cleaning them. Sometimes I will keep them but not very often.

Nice fish Jason! I would have no problem cleaning and eating those fish. My GF's friend lives on a farm in Wisconsin that has a private creek on it. I will fish that sometime in the near future.

I went fishing last night and caught a bunch of Channel cats and one baby striper and actually remembered to take a pic during the day, only to find out I can't send pics from my phone because it costs an extra 5 bucks a month.

now those I would keep, clean, fillet, fry then eat !!!! nice. I wish we could pull fish out the Maumee River like that. all we get around here are Channel Cats, Carp, Shitheads, white bass and if ya got a boat you can get walleye.

I have not kept any of the posted fish because I caught them all in the Mississippi River. They have very high mercury levels in them and you can only eat like 2-3 fish a month from there. I say, fuck that shit completely. We have SOOOOOOOOOO many lakes around here it is ridiculous. I only fish the river for fun.

Damn, I wish I had a digital camera. Although you guys have better catches than anything I have got this year. My best right now for the year is some 12 to 16 inch channell cats

It is the same way here with the Ohio River. They say if you are an adult man the mercury wont hurt you, only young kids and women of "child-bearing" age, still, fuck some mercury fish.
