Are Silat Mubai and Silat Tarab other forms of Pencak Silat? When I was in Indonesia I tried to check out some classes but wasn't able to find any.

here is the description from our parent-group's website, it is the easiest way to describe it (Silat Mubai does not exist anymore-it was split in to Tarab & Sharaf, which is why I do not list it as something that I teach):

Pencak Silat Sharaf, is a modern system of combatives developed by Ustaz Hussein Udom, an internationally respected combatives trainer and published author. The system is based on four primary sources of traditional Muslim Fighting Arts and Warrior culture.

    1. Ottoman Military Arts
    2. Silat War Arts of the Malay Archipelago
    3. Hui Chinese Fighting Arts
    4. Research, Development, and Combative Experience

The curriculum of Silat Sharaf is separated into inner (batin) and outer (zahir) elements, each with their own course of study. The outer elements develop proficiency in armed and unarmed combat in the close quarter and extreme close quarter fighting ranges. Practical concealed carry weapons like knives and guns are primary tools while more classical weapons like sword, garrote, and stick are also covered. Emptyhands and groundfighting are also very important aspects of the outer curriculum.

The inner elements develop into two areas, Classical Islamic Chivalry and Warrior Body Culture development. The Chivalry or Furusiya (futuwa), is a classical code of conduct and propriety that can be traced back to the beginnings of the Muslim community in Arabia over 1400 years ago. The Warrior Body Culture elements strive to develop command of human energy by understanding how the body develops force, harnesses it, and releases it. Silat Sharaf has gained a reputation worldwide as one of the most functional, simple and fluid systems of Silat available for study.

Silat Tarab, is a modern system of Street Combatives. The system is based on traditional Silat Fighting Arts of the Malay Archipelago, Ottoman Military Combatives, Personal Experience, and Research. Silat Tarab is the CORE COMBATIVES element of Silat Sharaf which is a larger curriculum of physical and academic Silat study.

The contents of the Silat Tarab training modules were designed over many years and took hours upon hours of designing and redesigning to create. Thus ensuring that students receive the best possible training in every class they attend. Training focuses on developing proficiency in using emptyhands, guns, knives, and groundfighting techniques to prevail in high stress combat environments.

Self trained in JKD[15yrs], some stolen techs from aikido and sambo with regards to reversals and wrist locks, subs all stolen from NHB/MMA.
Do alot of self training on heavy back Muay Thai style usualy Doing short bursts like krav maga, strongly emphasis on ATP energy system, which I find is alot more relevant to streetfighting.
Watched to much kung fu movies i.e. Iron fist technique, this burnt a scar into my mind, so that at 13 years old I would begin to punch walls to toughen my hands, It worked well.

I remember I was showing of in school, as no one could believe I could hit a wall full boar with my hands repeatedly[very tong po ala kickboxer], and some dip shit shouted "walls don't hit back", to which I just said "whatever", what I should of said is, you hit him hard enough they hit back allright.

Tae Kwon Doe brown belt...i would have been a black belt but the test was 500 dollars, so i decided spending 500 dollars would not make me a better fighter the next day

now i just do kickboxing and some mma striking classes

hahahaha my black belt test was like $30. Most of that going to nice embroidery on the belt. Funny how when you pay less it usually means your school is more credible.
