I used to make fun of kids for playing this, but today I bought my first starter deck..

The girl I've been seeing asked me if I wanted to learn how to play, so I thought why not. Played afew games, got my ass handed to me and developed an itch to learn more about it. I found it a little embarrassing buying my deck, I hung my head in shame, paid the man his money and scurried out the door..

I was told to stick to one color for a beginner, but I accidently bought a black and white deck. So I'm just going to score afew booster packs and get rid of my white, as all my lands are swamps anyway.

Before you know it I'll be drinking Mt. Dew, buying achne creams and masturbating from lack of sexual interaction. it's a dark road I'm heading down, but I'm curious where it leads.

Anyone else ever play?

Shouldn't have bought a starter first.
What you should have done is you should have tried out the online version, Magic the Gathering online, play a few games and see if you'll like it. Then proceed to buy the real thing.

The one thing that I don't like about MTG is its expensive to keep up (in Standard). So you've shelled out hundreds of dollars for that great deck? Awesome, see that deck get trashed (not really though but pretty close) at the next expansion.

Though the current block of MTG looks nice, they've got different factions, I think 8 or 9, which makes for multicolor builds pretty interesting.

She actually reccomended the xbox DL to me. She just doesn't know anybody else local who plays, so I thought I'd step up my nerdiness.

The fact you say the newer decks dominate gives me confidence, her deck is 2011.

Actually Beets, that's the correct progression, religion --> cards depicting demons and angels --> ??? --> tranny porn --> cp
pretty much how it went for me

anyways..

Magic takes awhile to learn and even longer to collect powerful cards and put together a good deck. I remember when I played the scene was alot better and there were several badass magazines with decks you could copy.

The magazine I loved was called Inquest, it was made by the same people who did Wizard magazine for comics, neither are around anymore unfortunetly...
