From sherdogs pros pick, found it pretty funny.

Mac Danzig: Seven years ago, I was coming off a decision loss in the WEC that was held in Connecticut. As if a five-hour plane ride back home after a disappointing loss wasn’t miserable enough, Tito Ortiz was sitting directly in front of me. He had been wearing his UFC belt everywhere the entire weekend of the fight and was still wearing it in the airport and now on the plane ride home, too. He had to turn it backwards to comfortably sit on the plane. He proceeded to tilt his seat back as far as it could possibly go. This left nothing in my forward vision except for a giant yellow head, not to mention the fact that his seat was basically in my lap, which was more than mildly uncomfortable. Over the course of the next five hours, I tried my best to sleep, but every time I opened my eyes, there was a huge sphere of yellow hairs with dark roots coming in no less than 12 inches from my face. I was bordered on the right by a window and on the left by Colin Oyama. Luckily for me, I was able to suppress this memory for quite some time, but after seeing that giant yellow head bounce around the ring a few times afterward, I’d get flashbacks. Rumor had it that just a few weeks earlier, Lee Murray soccer-kicked a giant yellow beach ball in a British pub. Forrest by TKO in round three.

For the list I just took the movies at imdb that made the top 250 because I respect a list that has Shawshank Redemption as the #1.I took out the foreign films because this is Amerrica damn it.Also,if it had a sequel,I just listed the top one,(LOTR) and for Pixar films,I just included the top one...just because.

On November 12th, 1993 in Denver, Colorado, combat sports as we knew them changed forever. It was on this night that a new sport was unveiled. A company called SEG Sports held a revolutionary pay-per-view event. Dubbed The Ultimate Fighting Championship, this event would pit renowned practitioners of several different fighting styles in a one-night tournament. When 26-year-old Royce Gracie entered the cage that evening, very few people could have imagined that he would not only run through the evening's competition, but that he would also initiate a major change in the way that the general public viewed fighting. At approximately 175 pounds, Royce efficiently dispatched of multiple opponents that were much larger and quicker. As Gracie racked up win after win against bigger and stronger athletes, many fighters worldwide began training, at least to some degree, in the discipline of jiu-jitsu. The sport on display at that first UFC was quickly dubbed "No Holds Barred (NHB)" fighting and that initial pay-per-view event drew over 86,000 buys. The sport eventually evolved into what we now know as mixed martial arts (MMA) and jiu-jitsu has become a discipline that is extremely well represented in MMA today. Those of us who are sports fanatics know that terms like legendary get thrown around FAR too often. Very few athletes can truly be called iconic figures in their sport. Because of the accomplishments of Gracie in MMA's embryonic stage, most observers would agree that terms like "legendary" and "iconic figure" would be appropriate terms for Royce Gracie. He was MMA's version of John L Sullivan, the first superstar in his burgeoning sport. Royce Gracie finished his MMA career with a 14-3-3 record (* one of those losses was because he was unable to continue in a tournament due of injuries sustained in a prior victory), with twelve of his victories coming by way of submission. Hailing from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, Royce was quickly introduced to his family's signature fighting discipline as a child, learning from his father, Helio, and his older brothers Rorion, Relson and Rickson. Royce began competing in competitive jiu-jitsu tournaments at the age of 8 and was a black belt in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu at the age of 18. Competing in competitive jiu-jitsu tournaments in the United States and Brazil, he eventually compiled a record of 51-3. He would eventually become a 6th degree black belt, the highest such honor in his discipline. Now 42 years old, Royce continues to be a great ambassador for both the sport of MMA and his discipline, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.

Royce was recently kind enough to take a couple of minutes out of his schedule to answer a few questions for MMA For Real:

Rich Wyatt: At the time of the first UFC event, the concept of MMA was brand new. What were your thoughts heading into that first fight?

Royce Gracie: I train for that! That is what my family had being doing for a long time back in Brazil, so it was not something new to me!

Rich Wyatt: Are there any fighters competing today that you enjoy watching? Are there any that remind you of yourself?

Royce Gracie: I like to watch the guys that know how to use strategy. I’d say that Demian Maia fights very much like me.

Rich Wyatt: In your opinion, is it to incorporate weight training as part of a training routine?

Royce Gracie: Not just weight training but I’d also say lots of cardio to help complement your martial arts skills.

Rich Wyatt: How do you spend most of your time now? Do you get a chance to do a lot of instructing?

Royce Gracie: I spend about six months on the road teaching and 6 months at home with the family. Great life!!!!

Rich Wyatt: What do you think about the way that the sport is being marketed?

Royce Gracie: It's big all over the world! The UFC did a very good job.

Rich Wyatt: We all know that the Gracies brought Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to the forefront during the early UFC events. What are your thoughts on Eddie Bravo’s version of jiu-jitsu and the rubber guard? Have you
tried implementing any of what he does in your style?

Royce Gracie: Who is he? Did he ever win the Worlds in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu? Or ADCC? Or has he ever fought in the UFC, Pride, or Dream?

Rich Wyatt: Looking back at your MMA career, what fight meant the most to you?

Royce Gracie: All the fights are important in my opinion. The first UFC, having three fights in one night; the second UFC, four fights in one night; the fourth UFC and the finals with Dan Severn. Also, going an hour and forty five minutes with Sakuraba and the fight against Akebono, who is 6'8" and 490 pounds.

Rich Wyatt: Which have you enjoyed the most? Competing in jiu-jitsu tournaments, fighting professionally in MMA or teaching others?

Royce Gracie: Fighting MMA.

Rich Wyatt: It’s been rumored that we may possibly see Renzo Gracie fight against Matt Hughes in the UFC sometime soon. Do you think that is likely to happen?

Royce Gracie: I don't think this will happen.

Rich Wyatt: Brazil has produced a lot of very accomplished, world-class MMA fighters. MMA has seen a boom in popularity in the United States. However, the sport is still illegal and/or unsanctioned in
most of Brazil. Do you see the sport gaining popularity there in the coming years?

Royce Gracie: Brazilians are very hot blooded so they don't need much to fight. They fight on the streets. But with time it will be legal all over, like it is in the USA.
On retirement:

"I want to retire on top, I don’t want to retire after a couple [of] knockouts because my number-one priority is my wellbeing, not my success."

"It’s very hard for a boxer or a MMA fighter to retire on top."

On what motivates him as a fighter:

"I started fighting because I like the art itself. I like martial arts; I’m a mixed martial artist. I didn’t first start fighting for the money because when I started I didn’t have any money. I was working three jobs at the time. I was studying at university, so I didn’t have any money. I did it for the heart inside, because I loved it. If you start doing it for the money then I think you’re doing it for the wrong reasons."

On wrestling and the Olympics games:

"That’s a good question...It’s something I can’t talk about too much right now but it would be a goal. It plays on my mind."

"I’m under contract with the UFC so I’m telling you like it is, I have to be very careful with what I’m saying but we’ll see..one day [laughs]. You caught me off guard on this one!"

"There’s a big difference between actually saying I want to go to the Olympic games and going to the Olympic games. It’s very hard. The try out is very hard and you have to pass through a bunch of obstacles before you get there."
Lesnar was resting Wednesday at his home in Alexandria, Minn. and was scheduled to visit the famed Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. early next week for a battery of tests.

"He had a hole in his intestine," White said. "The (stuff) was leaking into his stomach. That's what was causing him so much pain. That and he had abscesses.

"The doctor told him he hasn't been right for a year. His immune system has been trying to fight this thing and that's why he was susceptible to getting sick."

That likely explains Lesnar’s original diagnosis of mono. He had been weakened to the point that he was unable to train for the Carwin fight for much of October. That prompted the original delay in the fight. Then last week, the intestinal problem flamed up and Lesnar was hospitalized.

Mauricio “Shogun” Rua will be getting his rematch with Lyoto Machida for the UFC light heavyweight championship, but it looks like he’s going to have until the middle of 2010 to get it.

UFC President Dana White has recently confirmed May 1 as the likely date for the anticipated showdown according to a recent report from Dave Metzel over at Yahoo Sports.

Apparently the two will face off in Montreal, Canada at an event yet to be announced.

The fellow Brazilian’s had been expected to rematch on January 2 during UFC 108 but a hand injury suffered in that bout by Machida forced the champion from the card.

There were many in attendance and watching at home that disagreed with the judges decision to award Machida with the victory in the pair’s first meeting during UFC 104 in October based on Shogun’s aggression combined with the fact that he landed more strikes during the bout, but the May date will hopefully give both men an opportunity to erase any doubt in what went down as one of the most controversial UFC title bouts in recent memory.

No one here is probably around dorm showers, but wouldnt it have been fun to...

1. Enter the stall. Shower for about 3 minutes, then scream really loudly, exclaiming,"I didn't know I had one of THOSE!"

2. Ask Scottie to beam you up.

3. Enter the stall, undress and then re-dress up as Superman. Leap out of the stall, vengefully vow to stop Lex Luthers evil plot, then run full force into the wall. Stand up,shake your head, and proceed to take your shower.

4. Bring a bottle of fake blood or ketchup into the shower with you. Exclaim "Ow! You know,it really hurts when you pop one of those." Then let the blood/ketchup seep down the drain for all to see.

5. Bring in a rubber chicken. Get it all soapy, then toss in into the next stall. Demand that the person in that stall return it to you or you will cast a voodoo curse on them. The next day, hang the chicken from the bathroom lighting fixtures by a noose and stick numerous pins and forks in it.

6. Stand in the bathroom waiting for would-be shower-goers. When they come in,tell them "not to do it" and ask them "not to give in to sin." Wail mournfully when they step into the shower.

7. Initiate a war with the person in the stall next to you. Use the residual water on the floor as your battle medium, and float little battleships over to their side. If they kick them back or throw them over the edge, exclaim that you didnt know they had the power of God and sheepishly mumble prayers for the duration of your shower.

8. Bring in a fake finger. Float it down the drainage "ditch." Ask if someone would be so kind as to return it to you. If no one does, tell them that the finger has been sacrificed to Satan and that the shower stalls are now possessed. Hang Halloween decorations and crepe-paper ghosts from them the next day.

9. Bang your head against the stall wall shouting "Redrum! Redrum!" in your best groggy voice.

10. Bring a Yoo-Hoo chocolate milk drink to the shower with you. Complain about a stomachache, then moan "Ohhhh,um,uh-oh" and squirt the Yoo-Hoo down the drain "ditch" for all to see.

11. Before you turn the shower on make a noise like you are charging up a proton pack from Ghostbusters. Before you turn it off,ask Egon to set the trap up for you.

12. Bring a balloon into the shower. Make the balloon squeak for the duration of your bathing experience. Then pop it and fall to the ground as if shot.

13. Bring dead fish into the shower with you. Let them float down the drainage "ditch" complaining angrily about the quality of water these days.

14. Hang up the names of different farm animals in the stalls. Have everyone entering the stalls join you in a rendition of "Old McDonald Had A Farm" making the sound of the animal in their stall.

15. Take your shower like normal and then begin screaming that the Communists are taking over. Make battle sounds -- including bombs, bazookas, and tanks. Towards the end, wearily declare victory. Leave wounded.

16. Blow bubbles. Exclaim that you are dissolving.

17. Bring in a bucket, fill it with water, and float a bar of soap in it. Charge a fee for people to see the Wicked Witch of the West bathing nude. Threaten anyone who laughs at you with flying monkeys.

18. Start singing Pavarotti really loud. In the middle, stop, stutter for a second, and then exclaim "Ohmigosh...do you know what these words REALLY mean?"

19. Suck on the faucet head until you fill up with water. Complain that the Seven Chinese Brothers get no respect,OR pretend to be a fountain.

20. Wet your head, and then sneak into a toilet stall. Flush the bowl and wait a minute. Walk out of the stall lurching, complaining about how dizzy you are.

21. Buy a bunch of those tiny animal-pills that expand into full, spongy shapes when they get wet. Bring them into the shower and spill them into the ditch. Ask somebody for your pills back, and when they hand you little animals, scream, slap them and run away.

22. Try to get everyone in the other stalls to sing in four-part harmony with you. If this actually works, change your voice part every three measures.

23. Become a shower-pirate. Loot other stalls of soap,Oxy pads, and Q-Tips. Bury them under the tile floor. Fire cannons at people using toilet balls..

24. Stand outside the shower curtain, raise a harpoon and shout "Im coming for you Moby!" Run in and do battle with the faucet-head. Walk out a peg leg.

25. Charge a toll for people wanting to use the shower. If they complain, light them on fire. THEN they'll pay.

Frank Mir Wants Brock Lesnar To Get Well

Frank Mir does not want to see Brock Lesnar leave the cage.

The former heavyweight champion said he hopes the ailing champion gets well soon.

Why? He's obsessed with a rematch.

"That's pretty much been my driving focus to go to the gym every day, to change myself and grow as a fighter," Mir said at a Q and A session for the WEC on Tuesday.

Lesnar was hospitalized last week and diagnosed with a bacterial infection of his intestines -- a local news affiliate in Minnesota called it a severe case of diverticulitis, a digestive disease in the large intestine -- prompting the indefinite delay of a title bout with Shane Carwin.

UFC president Dana White on Monday told TMZ that Lesnar might never fight again but appeared to back off those comments in subsequent interviews, saying the champion's fate depended on the severity of the condition.

If Lesnar was out for good, Mir said it didn't matter that his prospects in the division improved.

"To know that there's a possibility that (a rematch) might never happen, that's been taking me a couple of days to try and wrap my mind around," he said.

"It's going to give me a hard time."
Labels: Brock Lesnar, Frank Mir, Shane Carwin, WEC

Frank is just thinking of himself when Brock is fighting for his health.

Former Mixed Martial Artist David Tyner Arrested in Multiple Homicide

David Allen Tyner, a 28-year-old former Marine who fought seven times professionally as a mixed martial artist, has surrendered himself to police in Oklahoma City, Okla., in connection with a multiple homicide on Nov. 9.

Oklahoma City police had issued a warrant for his arrest on Monday related to six murder complaints. According to the warrant obtained by FanHouse, fire investigators arrived to the grisly scene on Nov. 9 after being notified of a house fire. Upon arrival, fire personnel quickly encountered one deceased person. Upon extinguishing the fire, the other victims were discovered.

While four bodies were found at the scene, authorities say two of the victims were pregnant. All four victims were shot, and the crime scene had been intentionally set ablaze, authorities determined.

Police believe Tyner did not act alone, and he has not yet been formally charged in the case.

Oklahoma City police master sergeant Gary Knight told Fox News that they have established a relationship between Tyner and at least one of the victims, but had not yet established a motive for the crime. They also told the media that an eyewitness and the sole survivor, Jose Fernando Fierro, had identified Tyner -- known by his nickname "Hooligan" -- as a suspect.

Tyner was a two-time state wrestling champion in high school who later compiled a 6-1 record in mixed martial arts, fighting primarily in regional shows. Tyner's most high-profile match was against former UFC fighter Patrick Smith in 2007. Tyner lost by second-round TKO. According to one report, Tyner had been training to return to action soon.

The case has attracted some national attention because one pregnant victim, 22-year-old Brooke Phillips was a prostitute who appeared on HBO's "Cathouse" series.

According to reports, the other victims were Millie Barrera, 22, Jennifer Lynn Ermey, 25, and Casey M. Barrientos, 32.

Image: http://fiveouncesofpain.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/Brock-225x300.jpg
With the troubling news recently breaking in regards to UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar’s health, speculation...

With the troubling news recently breaking in regards to UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar’s health, speculation from fans and media quickly turned to the possibility of a fight between Lesnar’s previously scheduled opponent for UFC 108, Shane Carwin, and rising superstar Cain Velasquez. However, the notion seemed to be shot down at the UFC 104 post-event press conference when President Dana White stated Carwin had recently undergone knee surgery and was no longer an option for the event – a matter the top contender quickly clarified on Twitter, saying he had a “Grade 2 MCL Strain” he was currently rehabbing that had not actually required any sort of medical procedure to fix.

Carwin further elaborated on the situation Tuesday in a series of posts on The Underground. When asked if he had heard from the UFC in regards to creating an interim heavyweight title and competing against Velasquez for it, Carwin responded, “We are in talks.”

He continued, “I have a knee I am rehabbing and a baby due on the eleventh of February. I am down to do whatever is best for the division. Not sure how important the belt is in that scenario. (There are) lots of great fighters at the top and lots of talented young guns on the way up right now.”

The undefeated knockout specialist hailing from Colorado also addressed his feelings on Lesnar’s health issues in great detail, expressing genuine concern for the champ’s well-being and wishing him a speedy recovery.

“I am sure most of you know I am not the leader of the Lesnar Fan Club. That being said, antics or not, he is OUR UFC HWT Champion. He beat a future Hall of Famer to keep that belt and he NEEDS our prayers and good thoughts right now.

At the end of the day I can take off my UFC shirt and say here is a man, a Champion that has been brought down by an illness not another man. It is very humbling if you think about it.

Brock has a wife, kid, and friends that depend on him to make their lives better. You do not have to support Brock and his antics but you should have respect for the human side of what is happening here.

This is not a ploy to sell more tickets. He is the biggest draw this sport has ever had. This is not him ducking me or any other fighter. This is about a man who is fighting an illness for his career, family and friends.

Talk of stripping a man of his title due to illness will set this sport back farther then anything Brock has ever said. We need our Champions healthy and defending. I know the show will go on but to be a Champion you must beat a Champion.

My family and I send our thoughts and well wishes to Brock’s family, friends and training partners. We are indeed keeping you in our thoughts.

If you sit around bashing Brock or making fun of this because of his antics you might be the very same thing you despise. As an MMA fan, as a human be concerned that one of OUR OWN has fallen and needs our support.

Get well soon UFC Heavyweight Champ Brock Lesnar.”
People keep telling me how good and how tricky he is, but I’ve been known to do some pretty tricky things before that are ten-times better than anything in Dustin’s game. I’ve fought a lot of really good submission guys like Nick Diaz, who was a good jiu-jitsu guy, Drew Fickett, who was a good grappler and Fernando Vasconcelos, who was a two-time jiu-jitsu world champion. I’ve fought some pretty elite jiu-jitsu guys and have come really close to submitting them, but they never submitted me. I’ve only lost three fights [in the UFC]. You may win the most unbelievable fights anyone has ever seen, but people always seem to remember when you were at your worst. They always forget all of the good things you’ve done in the cage and for the sport. I’ve been off my game for a few years, so I don’t blame people who are underestimating what I can do in this fight. They don’t expect to see the old Karo who did all of the crazy stuff back then, but I’m trying to bring that Karo back for this fight – like the rebirth of 'The Heat'. If I can come into this fight in shape and with a clear mind, I should be able to win this fight decisively."

– Former number one welterweight contender Karo Parisyan talks to UFC.com about his long road back to becoming relevant again in the crowded 170-pound title chase. "The Heat" will embark on that journey against submission specialist Dustin Hazelett at UFC 106: "Griffin vs. Ortiz 2″ from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Nov. 21. The Armenian-born Judoka has not competed since a No Contest against "Stun Gun" Kim at UFC 94 back in January. He tested positive for painkillers following the bout and served a nine month suspension. What can we expect from Parisyan -- who hasn't won since UFC 78 -- when he returns?

MIKE BROWN VS. JOSE ALDO

WEC featherweight champion Mike Brown defends his title against Brazilian sensation Jose Aldo. Both fighters are undefeated in the WEC, so one of these fighters will keep their perfect record intact in the blue cage, but will also walk out with the title. Expect a close and evenly matched fight, as these are two of the best fighters in the division.

Brown has outworked and imposed his will on all of his opponents in the WEC, but it might be tough to do that to Aldo because the Brazilian enjoys the same control over his opponents. Brown will have the strength and wrestling advantage over Aldo, while Aldo has is better at striking and in submissions.

Each fighter’s strategy is simple. Brown will need to get into Aldo’s face and wrestle him to the ground, controlling the fight from top, not giving Aldo any space to go for submissions. Aldo will need to keep the distance and attack with combinations from the outside until he lands the big one to finish the fight. Whoever comes out on top when it’s all said and done won’t have much time to relax as there is a slew of contenders waiting to take their title away.

LEONARD GARCIA VS. MANNY GAMBURYAN

Jackson’s Submission Fighting featherweight Leonard Garcia faces off with Judo stylist Manny Gamburyan. Both fighters come off decision victories and with another win one will put himself into title contention sometime next year. Neither fighter shy away from a fight, so expect these two to be gunning for an exciting finish.

This is a classic striker vs. grappler match-up that has been prevalent in mixed martial arts since its conception.

Garcia is the much better striker, while Gamburyan is superior on the ground. Garcia needs to attack from the beginning and not give Gamburyan get a chance to get the fight to the ground, where he would control with ground and pound or go for a submission. Gamburyan would be wise to get the fight to the ground as soon as possible because Garcia will put out his lights if given the chance.

The fight will come down to whether or not Gamburyan gets the fight to the ground. If he can then his arm will be raised, if not then Garcia will have a good night.

ROB McCULLOUGH VS. KAREN DARABEDYAN

Former WEC lightweight champion “Razor” Rob McCullough faces off with debuting lightweight Karen Darabedyan. McCullough needs a solid win under his belt to get back on track, while Darabedyan will look to pull off an upset in his WEC debut. Don’t expect this fight to go to the scorecards, as these two will be looking for the kill from the onset.

McCullough is the better striker, while Darabedyan should be the stronger ground fighter thanks to his experience in Judo. One thing that could play as an advantage for Darabedyan is that McCullough just got married a couple weeks ago and may have been distracted in his preparation for the fight. Darabedyan will need to get in close to get the fight to the ground, but McCullough is good in close quarters, so it’s a blessing and a curse for Darabedyan.

Although McCullough might have not had the best camp, he should be able to handle the debuting Darabedyan and score a knockout victory.

DANNY CASTILLO VS. SHANE ROLLER

Team Alpha Male lightweight Danny Castillo faces off with former NCAA wrestling champion Shane Roller. In a thin lightweight division, the winner of the fight could be next in line for a title shot. Both fighters know what is on the line in this fight, so expect them to come out and put on a show for the fans and WEC brass.

Both fighters come from a wrestling background, but Roller is the more decorated of the two. He is a former NCAA wrestling champion and an NCAA All-American. If he can put Castillo on his back, then he has the advantage. If the fight stays on the feet, Castillo has the edge as he has drastically improved his striking. He stand-up looked especially impressive in his last fight against Ricardo Llamas.

Castillo will need to stay on the outside to avoid the takedown, while Roller will look to close the distance to get the takedown. The outcome of the fight will depend on whether or not Roller can get the fight on the ground.

A light heavyweight matchup between UFC Hall of Famers Randy Couture (17-10 MMA, 14-7 UFC) and Mark Coleman (16-9 MMA, 7-4 UFC) is in the works for UFC 109.

Sherdog.com was the first to report that the two former UFC heavyweight champions have verbally agreed to the contest.

If signed, the bout will take place on Feb. 6 in Las Vegas.

Coleman debuted for the UFC in 1997 and earned the UFC 10 tournament title with wins over Don Frye, Gary Goodridge and Moti Horenstein. "The Hammer" also holds significant career wins over Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, Allan Goes, Igor Vovchanchyn, Kazuyuki Fujita and Dan Severn.

The soon-to-be-44-year-old Coleman left the UFC in 1999, but he returned to the organization in 2009. The Ohio native dropped his first bout to Rua in January, though he earned a unanimous-decision win over "The Ultimate Fighter 1" finalist Stephan Bonnar at July's UFC 100 event.

Couture's career briefly overlapped Coleman's after "The Natural" debuted at UFC 13 in 1997. The pair was scheduled to meet at UFC 17 in 1998, but a Couture injury forced the cancellation of the bout.

While Couture fought six times outside of the UFC, "Captain America" has spent the majority of his career inside the octagon. Couture fought most recently at this past weekend's UFC 105 event in the U.K., and he earned a hotly contested unanimous decision win over Brandon Vera.

The contest is expected to take the co-feature slot on the UFC 109 card, though it could certainly take top billing if Anderson Silva's rehabilitation process prevents a planned contest with Vitor Belfort from taking place.

We got the pleasure of catching up with the UFC's welterweight champion Georges St Pierre backstage at UFC 105. A consummate professional and role model for many, the French-Candian sits atop of the pile at 170lbs and is known as one of the best fighters on the planet. He remains humble though, and wants to use his status positively.

In this installment 'Rush' talks about potentially fighting Anderson Silva, his legacy, being a role model and the difference between 'mixed martial artists' and 'fighters'.

The video and some excerpts from the interview can be found below.

On fighting Anderson Silva:

"I think about it but it’s not written in stone."

"When I retire I want to be known as the best fighter in the sport of MMA, pound-for-pound, of all time and I want to be known as the guy who made the difference. Not only in the Octagon but as a spokesperson. To do that I’ve got to beat some of the beat some of the best guys in the sport and of course Silva is one of them, BJ Penn was one of them. But, this fight is not written in stone in that one of us can lose [a] fight and if one of us lose a fight then the interest for it will diminish considerably."

"I have a lot of friends as middleweights and I don’t want to fight a friend."

The difference between 'fighters' and 'mixed martial artists':

"There is a big difference between a fighter and a mixed martial artist. In the UFC and the sport of MMA there is a lot of fighters but there is a few mixed martial artists. I think a mixed martial artist is someone who came from the background of a traditional martial art or came from a specific sport like wrestling or boxing."

On being a role model:

"I think it’s important to be a well-spoken person because a lot of kids look up to us and I think it’s important for me, as a champion, to be a good example."

On his fighting style:

"I fight methodically. I fight in a way to shut down their strengths. I don’t want to fight against their strength because I might lose, I want to fight against their weakness. It’s a statistic game for me. I try to put all the chance on my side so by doing this I have more chance to win."

Part II of the interview covering his aspirations and much more will come soon.

Look at the boxing POV Mayweather vr Pacquiao, who wants to see this happen? Everyone...Why because Mayweather has beaten everyone, Pacquiao has beaten everyone.

Lets look at it from the MMA perspective.

Fedor has beaten everyone.

UFC champ...has had the title changed too many times....There is no money in it for the promoter to have a cross promotion. AKA Dana White.

You cannot hype the fight until you have a UFC heavyweight as dominant as Fedor.

COUTURE VS. COLEMAN TARGETED FOR UFC 109

Five-time UFC champion Randy Couture has verbally agreed to face former heavyweight champion Mark Coleman at UFC 109 in a light heavyweight bout.

Sherdog.com was the first to report the news Tuesday afternoon, and MMAWeekly.com subsequently confirmed it with sources close to the situation.

The bout is expected to be the the co-main draw of the Feb. 6 event, slated for the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

A main event between Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort could possibly headline the card, MMAWeekly.com sources said this week, though the fight has yet to be officially confirmed.

Couture, 46, is three days removed from a close decision victory over light heavyweight Brandon Vera at UFC 105 in Manchester, England. It was his first bout at 205 pounds since February 2006, when he lost a bid to regain the title against Chuck Liddell at UFC 57.

Coleman, 44, is coming off a knee injury that forced him to withdraw from a scheduled fight with Tito Ortiz at Saturday's UFC 106, opening the door for an Ortiz rematch with Forrest Griffin. The "Hammer House" original made his last Octagon appearance in July, defeating Stephan Bonnar by unanimous decision at UFC 100.

-mmaweekly

about to be the most boring fight in the world... and coleman is a beast at 205 this will be intresting but i think randy will take him.

Steelers Fan Says He Was Poisoned, Left Blind At Chicago Bar
Zack Heddinger: 'I've Basically Been Blind For Two Months'

POSTED: 4:20 pm EST November 16, 2009
UPDATED: 6:07 pm EST November 17, 2009
PITTSBURGH -- A Steelers fan, left blind and living with brain damage, says the effects were the result of being poisoned at a Chicago bar following a game in September.

"I haven't been able to see. I've basically been blind for two months," said Zack Heddinger.

Video: Watch Michelle Wright's Report

Heddinger told Channel 4 Action News anchor Michelle Wright that he and a few friends went to a bar following the Steelers' 17-14 loss to the Bears at Soldier Field on Sept. 20.

[Zack Heddinger]
Zack Heddinger

Heddinger said he and his friends were trash talking with Bears fans inside Kitty O'Shea's, but can't remember what else happened.

"Basically, I guess, my buddies had gotten into an altercation and they offered a drink as a peacemaker from what I understand," said Heddinger.

Not long after taking the drink, Heddinger passed out and was rushed to a nearby hospital, his heart stopping four times.

At first, doctors thought he had too much to drink, but realized there was more to it.

"They thought it was antifreeze or something like that …because it was so strong," said Heddinger.

Heddinger's family rushed to Chicago to be with him after doctors told them he wasn't going to make.

"I literally watched him say, within a matter of hours, 'I'm getting really scared. I can't see anything,'" said sister Lisa.

Doctors suspect his drink may have been spiked with toxic grain alcohol.

"I don’t think they tried to kill me. I think they tried to hurt me, but the killing came pretty close," said Heddinger.

A spokesperson for Kitty O'Shea's said on Tuesday that the bar is cooperating fully with an ongoing police investigation.

"We cannot confirm whether we are looking at surveillance video," the Chicago Police Department told Wright by phone. "The Area 3 detective division is looking into the matter."

Heddinger celebrated his 46th birthday on Monday and is undergoing oxygen treatments in hopes of regaining some of his vision. He hopes to be able to return to his job as a district manager for a jewelry company.

"Steeler Nation isn't just in Pittsburgh, it's everywhere, and I just hate for Chicago to be a city that Steelers Nation doesn't like because they did this to one of us," said Lisa Heddinger.

http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/...54/detail.html

One can only wonder how many have been maimed over the years by those losers in Chicago.
