get a real bike it's better than an excercise bike. i ride my bike 25 to 30 miles a day, when not to cold. i average about 18 to 20 miles an hour. what i will do is i will sprint a mile, then take it easy for 2 then sprint a mile. then ride hard (18 -20) for about 5 miles. repeat process.gets the cardio goin real good.

exercise bike is good. but if you can buy a rowing machine, i feel its better

Excercixe bikes suck compared to running or rowing. HOWEVER, you can get an AERODYNE bike circa 1980 (Like the one in the TEAM Quest training Video). Aerodaynes are bikes that use the upper upper body to cycle as well. MUCH MUCH MUCH Better than a regular excercise bike

road running is much better but i have a recumbant bike i use on the days i cant run on road due to either horrible shin slints or sore muscles...its a good change to get impact off of legs, ankles..keeps you loose on non road running days so dont lose what you have gained.

in mountain biking, not only do you use your legs but you get a total body workout from your shoulders to your calf and that includes the abs.

i like them but there is the temptation to not work too hard on them

they're ok if you use intervals

AIRDYNE is the best bike to get your "cardio up", If by that you mean training the applicable lactic acid energy system and aerobic system. Intervals on them are HIGHLY recommended by RANDY and HENDO and LINDALAND--- ever question their cardio?

I ride a mountain bike almost everyday and run a couple times a week. I also own a tread mill and an exercise bike. The equipment will get your cardio up, but they are no substitution for the real thing. In the Winter, I do more tread mill, but when it gets warm and I start running outside again, it's pretty obvious that I haven't really been pounding the pavement.

Good for cardio.

Running machine is better but high impact.

The best cardio - get a crosstrainer, low impact yet all the benefits of a running machine

I do twenty mins a 90% 6 days a week - Im not the strongest of fighters but I am a cardio machine. I think cardio is more important than strength. For me anyway!!! Well, maybe thats an excuse so I dont have to do any heavy lfting!! ha

man i have to suggest getting an actual bike...i just got a road bike i love it. they are fast, fun, and you get to see a change of scenery and you can go places maybe even save on some gas money lol. in my opinion much better than sitting there running or biking in place staring at a tv or whatever. get out get some fresh air have some fun nothing better than that.

i guess that doesnt really help at night though, but its something to think about if you're going to be dropping a lot of money on a piece of equipment. you can definately make it challenging its not easy to keep a fast pace up on a bike. no doubt this improves cardio.

Yes, it is providing resistance. That bike is no joke

I would get a bike but where I live there isnt much room on the side of the road plus if I get tird and bored I want to be able to quit and not have to trek all the way home, when I run i dont get nearly as far from my house as I would if I had a bike. It might be something I do if I move into a better area for it though.

If you're looking for a machine for indoor workouts I'd go with an elliptical, it provides a much better workout than a regular exercise bike and it causes less stress on the joints than a treadmill.

I've never really been a fan of rowing machines but that's because my hips pop when I use it so I don't really know how great of a workout it can provide.

From my experience though I'd go with an elliptical if it's in your budget.

p.s. I also do a lot of barbell and dumbbell complexes for cardio

You take a light weight and lift for eight sets of eight different exercises for 10-20 reps before resting and repeating. If you push yourself you're going to get a great cardio workout

screw being too tired to get home thats when you push yourself and get the best workout and findout what you reallg to inside of you lol. willpower. as far as an indoor machine i kinda agree with the elliptical idea im not exactly sure but i think studies show it burns similar calories to treadmill and definately lower impact. personally i jsut like an elliptical machine more than running. still reccomend a real bike though :p. my bike is so sick haha i love it.

a good bike workout can be had on a aerodyne bike. those things are great for cardio and muscle endurance when you push yourself hard.

we use it as an option for the weaklings who cant skip
