No word if former junior welterweight champion Kostya Tszyu is planning to finally announce his retirement from the ring, but he recently told media outlet The Age , that next year he is planning to make his acting debut in Russia and focus his energy on becoming a promoter in the country.

"I have lots of interesting things ahead of me in the new year and I will be appearing in an action movie for the first time in Russia," he said. "Filming for my role will commence in April and will take three weeks.

"It is going to be exciting for me to be an actor because I have to learn new skills … being a perfectionist in life, I want to look good on film and this means I have to practice a lot."

Also tied into Tszyu's plans to become a major boxing promoter in Russia, is opening a boxing school to take young Russian prospects under his wing and showing them the ropes.

His last bout was a TKO loss to Ricky Hatton in June of 2005, and at 38-years-old a return in 2008, when he will be turning 40, is not likely to happen.

Good, he should stay retired. I like Kosta as a fighter but man he got owned against Hatton. If he came back he would have to rematch him and I don't see it going differently.

That sucks, Kostya was a truely great fighter and it sucks that he has to leave the sport with the memory of him losing to a (IMO) inferior fighter fresh in everyone's mind.

I don't know that it's that relevant. How many in the know believe that Hatton would beat a prime Tszyu?
I'm just happy to hear he's hangin' them up for good.
