Went to the Bury Your Dead, Hatebreed and Killswitch Engage show the other night and spent half of it, including the entire Hatebreed set, center pit (I ain't one of these perimeter pussies who just shoves niggas - like a good piece of pussy, I like to get all up in it).

Anyway, I had to miss training for 2 days because I was so beat the fuck up! Man, I was sorer than after BJJ class – and a hell of a lot bloodier.

As brutal as the pit was though, there was this crazy sense of brotherhood that weaves its way through the Moshcore scene. I am an old school thrash/death metal guy who came up in the late 80’s early 90’s so I am used to the pure hatred we had for each other whilst in the throes of the pit – every man for himself and that shit. But at this show, cats were high fiving each other and clapping each others backs – I never had so many complete strangers show me some love in my life. If you went down, you had SEVERAL people pulling you immediately up.

Any body else into any of these bands or been to any “moshcore/metal core” concerts? Are they all like this? I had a great fucking time and just started to check this scene out so I will take any recommendations any of you guys have.

I knew I was too old after just the first sentence. I have only heard of Hatebreed. Too old, or I never listen to that kind of music. Probably a combination of both.

I know what you mean I was in the pit for Hatebreed and Slipknot at Ozzfest 2004, along with many others. I saw Hatebreed a few months ago when they were headlining, Black Dahlia Murder opened for them.

i love pits!!! its been way too long since i been to a show...im mostly into the hardcore wen it comes to rock. bands lilke underoath, atreyu, poison the well, most precious blood, FATA, shadows fall, nora, hopesfall. i know what you mean about the brotherhood, we aint in ther to try and go after specific people. and wen some1 falls down dudes usually pick them up and shit. first time i was in a mosh pit i was windmilling and running foward and as i came into the middle i tripped over someones foot and fell into a fat dudes foot that happen to be comin up doin a front kick, shit hit me in the eye and sent me righ bck up and fell into the wall of people and i remember seeing stars and gettin pushed back in and kept on swinigin. another pit i was in i started clappin and skankin thru the pit and people wer aimin for me b/c of this, but it was fun jajajaja.

im 20 and i feel old sometimes at shows strange because i play in a band.

I went to a Peter, Paul and Mary concert and halfway through I made my way down to the pit and started throwing elbows. As Puff the Magic Dragon came on I was up to my neck in blood.

but anyway. im not too big on moshing, instead i stand in the middle of it at the start and use it as an excuse to get to the front. since im pretty small i get, or let myself get pushed up to the front and then thats when i stand my ground and get alllllll the way to the baracades and have the best seat in the house.

concerts and small shows tough are some of the fuckin funnest places to be at, that's for sure.
