Okay guys, this is obviously aimed at you ADR's. First off, let me say that I have nothing against any of you and that has been evident in my posts due to the fact I talk with many of you. I just have a simple question to ask all of you and I hope that I get some intelligent answers rather than a bunch of flaming. This is not an attempt at war with the site but as I stated, an intelligent conversation & poll.

Please think about what you are voting on and act accordindly. Think as yourself "1" rather than part of a "group'. Think about the future of the site and not about the "Asylum". The Asylum will always be there regardless.

EDIT: I highly doubt that any profesional fighter will post here after viewing the "assdick" sigs. This is what I'm getting at.

I didn't sign up here to see assdicks, and I didn't sign up here to talk to professional fighters. I came here to bullshit with other MMA fans and read some MMA news. I don't give a fuck either way. I'm not obsessed with celebrity, and would really gain nothing by seeing a mediocre fighter posting an answer to some random question on training. The ADR guys are amusing and I feel are thus more valuable here.

Most fighters are very cool, so it seems, and down to earth. I don't think that by granting any fighters access to the site that it will shut us down by any means. I think that ninja has a very good thing going here and if he plays his cards right, he will have some professional fighters posting in here and it seems like that's what he want's eventually. I have received PM's and yes, it is holding the site back. That is just one instance though. There have been many emails sent out to fighters from various ninjashoes posters and who knows how many people were discouraged or annoyned by the site??? It's better to just run it clean and hope for the best. We have a great community going here. I think that we can attract some important people if we play our cards right.

Chances are, Flying Squirrel used ADR as an example because the pix make it such an obvious one.

It's true, porn and serial killers are both definitely not conducive to pros posting, or anyone other than testosterone-laden collegiate males with twisted senses of humor. So yes, ninjashoes has to decide whether the site should go legit or not -- or if not legit, at least legit enough to get some posters who don't want to look at and read about assdicks etc. You don't have to worry about getting Sherdog big, because you'll almost certainly never get anywhere near big enough to show up on The Man's radar; there are a lot of much better know forums that have been around longer but are still small communities of good people.

As soon as there are rules, the admin's job gets harder because he and the mods have to be vigilant to remove anything that breaks the rules. So it's easier just to let it go, and keeps the admin from having to be the heavy. With rules, it works OK if it's a closed community of people willing to cooperate, but gets harder if you get a couple of kids with bad attitudes who want to show off. Still, it's a decision every forum admin has to make at some point, depending on what he wants to site to be like.

Companies that do reciprocal ads and actually pay money to sites look hard at the sites to see if they're acceptable, and it's a pretty safe bet that they wouldn't like ADR etc.

You might be able to get away with keeping the perversion in the Asylum forum, but people (and companies) who disapprove on principle will probably disapprove anyway. Turning off pix for newb would help the immediate issue, but as soon as they're not newbs anymore and they turn on the pix they'd be hit in the face unexpectedly with porn.

At least if you cleaned up the sigs and made sure the avatars weren't bad, you could keep the awful stuff in the asylum where it belongs. Like someone else said, having assdick sigs all over your posts in the MMA forum isn't good. And unless you've got custom code, sigs follow their owners everywhere so you can't have them (or avs) just in the Asylum.

The reason you might want pros to post here is that you're fans, and pros have insight to the behind the scenes stuff that you can't ever know unless you've been there. I doubt that pros posting here would care about what videos/pix you put up; they don't get royalties anyway, the UFC et alia have all the rights and you're probably an insignificant spec in their eyes and probably always will be.

If you want to see an example of a forum that's stayed a small, tight-knit community but is clean, look at frankshamrock.com -- read the site rules, too, since Frank wrote them himself and enforced them as the site's admin until the operation got big enough so he could get someone else to do it (according to his rules).
