Former WBA super middleweight champion Anthony Mundine (27-3) and WBA#3 super middleweight Sam Soliman (33-8) are scheduled to meet in March 2007 for the WBA 168 pound title at the Sydney Entertainment Center, Sydney, NSW, Australia. In their most recent fights, Soliman scored a ten round points win over IBF #15 Enrique Ornelas of Mexico on November 17 in San Jacinto, California, while Mundine scored a third round knockout over Ruben Acosta of Argentina in Newcastle, New South Wales on November 15. Soliman said, “I am gutted for my fans who desperately wanted to see me fight him in Melbourne, but I’ve been waiting for this opportunity for too long to let the venue get in the way of my preparation. Sydney – Brisbane – Tasmania, I don’t care just as long as Mundine is there. I took the fight on 9 days notice last time and traveled from England to his backyard - so having 3 months to prepare and not having to travel – no acclimatization or jet lag problems is like a dream. I beat him last time under terrible conditions however this time I will be ready and will do what Manny Siaca and Mikel Kessler did – travel to his back yard and beat him!" Mundine previously scored a disputed twelve round split decision win over Soliman in 2001 in Wollongong, NSW.
