Check it out crossfit.com
Workout choice for Bj Penn, Chuck Liddel, Mike Swick etc... I've been doing it for 4 months and I started being able to do 2 pullups at 230. Now I weigh 232 (having lost 10 lbs of fat and put on 12 of lean mass) and can do 14 strict pullups. Also my endurance is off the chart. I stuggled (at the start) to do an 8 minute mile. Now I do intervals with 1:30 1/4 miles, followed by bleacher sprints, pushups, lungs, back to 1/4 miles like its no thing.

Although I'd always played competive sports (including pro rugby in NZ) I got real fat and apathetic for about 2 years. Thats when I found crossfit. Coming from a MCD and lab backround I can appreciate everything they do in terms of changing volume, frequencey, etc...

Anyone who really wants to be in FIGHTING SHAPE. Quit fucking around with anything else other than , training and crossfit. I also do some extra plyos (ala Team quest video) and track intervals (lungs are key in a small heavyweight)

crossfit is good but i don't like how they don't emphasize form and the heavy reps without good form can easily lead to injury

Actually, they really emphasize technique. Theres hundreds of videos, dozens of articles and lots forum responses. In fact last week the article of the day was about not progressing or even using any weight until your motor skills (technique) were perfected.

their mascot is a clown who's intestines explode out. they are proud of their injuries and overworking themselves

No offense, but if you don't question if you are over training... Then I guranFuckentee that you are not training hard enough.

If you are content to be mediocre, then follow the training advice on sherdog etc... IF you want to be a beast and train how competitive fighters, special forces, fire fighters and SWAT train, Crossfit is the bomb.

PS Pukie the clown reminds you to work harder (see first paragraph)

i don't get what exactly it is. i've browsed over the site a couple times. but is it really a program? do you just follow the daily workouts, because they're good i just don't kno if its a real program.

You follow the daily workouts and scale them to your level of experience. You can also sub excercises (they have comprehensive lists and video examples) if some are too difficult.

The point of Crossfit is to do your normal sport or activities eg bjj muy thai mma and do crossfit as well.

If you don't have the cash to hire top notch trainers to continuosly change your programs and avoid plateus this is the next best thing. Their journal ($25 a year) is an awesome resource of cutting edge info.

having rhabdomyolysis obviously means you are training too hard.

Interesting perception about women in crossfit.

My experience in has been that the most elite women jocks are tougher than their men counterparts (emotionally and will power wise). Its always funny to watch a 130 ripped chick absolutely destroy some 200+ weight room jock in any crossfit workout

PS Many women do crossfit after their gymnastics careers are over. Never doubt the strength of the "weaker sex" again after you seen one bust out one handed handstand pushups.
