Anyone here play it? I got into Age of Empires at a young age, and I never delved into the realm of Sid Meier's games. I hear they are sophisticated as hell and infinitely more in-depth than any AoE/Empire Earth game. I've outgrown the frenetic battles and non-stop building razing of AoE, and I'm thinking of buying Civ III to see if it whets my appetite.
Anyone here play any Civ games, and if so, is it any good?

Yep it's a great game, though a bit slow-paced for me. I like my RTS games faster paced, ala Command and Conquer.

Rise of Nations sounded cool, but I heard each age goes really fast, so while it combines good aspects from turn-based and RTS games, it fails to deliver on the depth of a game like Civ.

If you were into AOE, and now you're bored with the monotony of it, then you will probably dig Civ. I've played both, and Civ is far more intricate, but not to the point of being difficult. I fucking love the Civ games, dude. I highly recommend it... It's one of those games I could spend 10 hours at a time playing.

That's what I was looking for. I'll pick it up in that case, thanks.
