I just do the music and movie thing, there's a local place that sells pirate movies for 5 bucks a pop at a taco shop, great quality. Even cops and sheriffs stop by and get em'.

As one of my old teachers would say when something like this popped up,

"There's nothing wrong with using new technology."

never. not at all.

there's always gonna be ways of going around shit, so if you find a way now, take advantage.

and if anyone should feel bad it should be them for charging so fuckin much for something that costs them so little to make.

I don't feel guilty. I feel more guilty paying for it and not knowing where the money is going.

On one hand how can you make something like music or video cost anything when its so easily distributed with our current technology?

On the other hand no matter how I rationalize it or read how others rationalize I still aknowledge it as stealing because artist put their stuff out with the intent of it getting sold and not given away for free.

I realize it is morally wrong but I don't see music, movies or anything really being able to be distributed the same way anymore. I have probably downloaded more stuff than the average person and have been caught once by HBO.

I don't see myself stopping when it is so easy and everyone does it.

TRUE DAT!!!

and more to the point, why would i buy a CD with only one or two good songs on it? i have no qualms what so ever downloading the few decent songs on any given new album for free. then i dont have to pay for mediocrity. if bands were making good albums instead of good songs, i doubt we would even really be having this discussion. i doubt anyone would feel ripped off paying for a CD if it was quality stuff from start to finish. i know i wouldnt.

tho i do have to add, even if i download a metal album, if its good ill still buy it. support underground bands, they need to sell albums and concert tickets to eat.

I got to the cinemas to watch movies and go to concerts so I don't feel guilty downloading.

I am one of the biggest piraters of movies and music around, and I don't feel guilty, but at the same time I am not dumb enough to try to justify it and I know that technically it is stealing. A lot of people try to justify it with idiotic reasoning (The artist only gets a little bit of the money anyway, I hate big greedy corperations, I wouldn't have bought it anyway so it doesn't make a difference, they charge too much for CDs/DVDs anyway so I'm fighting the corrupt system, there are only 2 songs I like on the CD so I don't want to buy the whole thing, ect). These reasonings are stupid and obviously come from someone who desperately wants to justify something that can't be justified.

If you download and burn off movies and MP3s like I do, you are stealing. You are a thief, there is no two ways about it. You can lie to yourself and try to justify it to yourself (I did for a long time) but deep down you know its bullshit and you know what you are doing is technically "wrong".

"There's nothing wrong with using new technology."

Funny, the same thing could be used to support global terrorism, hacking, Weapons of Mass Destruction, ect. Your teacher clearly took it up the ass.

I don't download movies because I hate the quality my computer offers, plus I love special features.

I download music because I find myself getting bored with songs and bands quickly so I feel like I am wasting $15 everytime I buy a cd. If I really like a bands music I will purchase their cd to support them, but bands make money with concerts and all that as well.

I download tv shows like Family Guy and South Park because I usually miss them when they're on tv. But I also own all the Family Guy and South Park box sets.

I don't download software or games, but that's because I don't use much software and I don't really play video games.

I don't feel guilty for downloading these things, but I'd probably feel pretty guilty if I got caught and had to pay major fines

Only if the videos and softwares were cheaper.... But as of now no guilt no shame in downloading stuff for free... moreover i think there can be a new business model developing out there
