From 1986 (my birth year) until about 1997 wrestling was pretty badass. Some of it had to do with my age (I was 11) but guys like Stone Cold, HBK, DX and shit were sweet. Then they went through the phase where Undertaker turned into "American Badass", and that was appauling.

It's crap the storylines have been crap for a couple years now.WWE has been dull as fuck.

I think WWE pretty much ran out of ideas around 1999. Now its all rehashed storylines, and the same people, cough HHH cough, hogging the spotlight. There are a few exceptions, TNA wrestling isn't that bad, but overall I think pro wrestling does suck now.

I agree that WWE has been going down hill since WCW's demise, but its not fair to say "PRo wrestling sucks now" because WWE isn't the be all end all of pro wrestling, just like you wouldn't say "MMA sucks right now" if you didn't like the UFC. If you are a pro wrestling fan, I garuentee you that you can find good pro wrestling out there, its just that you might have to dig a bit deeper. There is a lot of great shit happening on the indies.

WWE is really bad right now, I can't stand watching it live anymore so I just record it on my DVR so I can skip the crap matches and boring timekiller skits. I prefer TNA now because its fresh, different and is at least trying something the WWE has failed to do the last 5 years: Build up new talent and actually use them.

I think so too, thats one of the main reasons I got out of it. Raw and Smackdown "brands"... that sounds fucking stupid. And what the hell is with 2 world champions? Thats terrible. I hate the "two smaller pools" direction. Imagine if Pride split up their roster into two groups, people would get bored pretty fast.

Wrestling used to be the shit back in the day, it got real gay around the time WCW started to go down hill.. I think I actually stopped watching it when David Arquette won the WCW World Title.. I remember there was some funny shit back in the day on WCW, like Karl Malone and Dennis Rodman wrestling.. That's some ridiculous shit. It used to be off the chain, The Rock/DX/Stone Cold/NWO all that shit was fun. I tuned in the other day and it was the weakest shit I've ever seen.

I saw some stupid ass shit yesterday, they were doing a show for some marines or some shit, and some ripped homo put a sleeper hold on Santa Clause, it was so lame.

I was a latecomer to wrestling in late 99 (bar a few weeks of wCw Pro on UK late night TV in th early 90's) and after buying as many tapes as i could then transferred to DVD and became a tape trader. I'd watch wrestling from Japan WWF/E WCW TNA ROH the lot. recently ive been watching no sport at all bar MMA. at first I put this down to my growing love of MMA but i now realise the product is godamn awful. There are some great matches coming out of Japan, with Big Mouth Loud and Katsuyori Shibata being a favourite, but not that often. I can manage to watch some NOAH the odd WWE PPV match and still love ROH for the way its presented but thats about it. WWE and Vince McMahon have basically killed what got me into wrestkling in the first place with their hokey storylines and piss poor continuity. OK were supposed to suspend belief while watching wrestling but smoking crack and necking LSD is probably the only way you can watch the WWE's product these days and enjoy it.

I stopped watching religiously right around the time you did actually, but early TNA and ROH brought me back. At least check out 2003 TNA (if possible) and 2004/5 ROH a bit before giving it all up.

I've always hated it too, but you have to admit from a business perspective it's pretty smart to in a sense create their own competition. And the two shows really have evolved over the years and have a certain different feel to them (I know plenty of people who only watch one and don't like the other). Of course, I personally hate it, and am always looking forward to a potential merger to salvage what can be salvaged...

Seeing how it's a martial arts forum, we can at least recognize that it's a full nelson... :P That show was over in Iraq, and it's always just for the entertainment of the troops, with a simple "good guy beats up bad guy" mentality... The sad part is, I actually remembering it being one of the better shows recently. >_<

It sure has gone down but thats because most of the wrestlers that were great bck then are gone now and also the Wwe has no competition to make them want to try harder and make better programing
