Gantz and the Guyver manga are like crack to me, but I will check out Deathnote.

Deathnote Manga is superior to Anime, granted the Anime makes the dry spell of the Light - L babble kinda short (you'll know what I mean), but its really better on paper . I won't spoil it for you but be prepared for one serious letdown.

some people on the Myspace.com forums told me that the anime starts to go downhill after episode 25 - thats a shame, so far its been pretty good.

I recently watched both series of the Deathnote anime. First anime I've ever watched. The first one spans the time Light is a student and the second when he is employed within the police force.
It drags at times but overall it's pretty good.
