J3nova 11-23-2006, 11:12 PM Oh I see so when you were browsing for them they didn't appear?
Best guess is because there .nsv files, which are read by little to none other than winamp. You'll have to convert them to .avi or whichever you choose.
Let me know how it turns out.

super video converter. all you do is pick what you want the output file to be and drag and drop whatever you want converted..it is free and probably the best one out there..

Nice. Now, with any of theese converters can you only play the disc on your computer or can you watch them on youir DVD player?
What's the best format is to put on a VCR worthy DVD?

with this program you can make dvd's, vcd's, svcd's(.vob, mpeg1,2,4) and you can also make divx files which some dvd players accept nowadays..you can basically convert as well as compress to any kind of practical video file.
and can you rephrase that second question, because im not sure i understand it.

The secomd Q concerns copying different file typs to DVDR,
So, do these need to be in .NSV format? .AVI? ...and so on...

oh ok. the best thing to do would be to convert the video files to .vob with a mpeg 1 or 2 encoder...this is what a dvd player uses and what most dvds are encoded in. you can also make vcd's and what not, but i think dvd's(.vob) are a safer bet just cos i dunno if your dvd player plays vcd's.
deegs 11-24-2006, 03:36 AM out of curiosity what are you converting? cos maybe i can suggest the best format and what not.

I don't even have a DVD burner yet. Also, I have never even heard of a .VOB file. What does that stand for?
deegs 11-24-2006, 04:10 AM I don't even have a DVD burner yet. Also, I have never even heard of a .VOB file. What does that stand for?
it is a file that contains mpeg video and audio as well as titles and what not. the standard for dvds.
since you don't have a dvd burner..i suggest making these files vcd's or svcd's, but make sure your dvd player plays these files...these are basically a slightly better than vhs quality video that you can burn onto a 74 or 80 minute cd.

i don't think it burns dvds, and if it did, you shouldn't use it for that purpose. yes, there is an option to convert to .vob files in the program as well as many other types. and i've converted as many as 5 files at a time..they are queued and are burned one after another.
as far as burning dvds from bluckbuster..i use 1 Click DVD Copy for ripping..it's an awesome program that gives you the option of ripping with menus and what not...i usually leave them out cos it might mess things up if you decide to convert to divx or vcd. for burning dvds, you should use Nero, it is the best out there i think...all of these programs are available for download with a little searching and off of torrents.
