In this thread, you guys can recommend a good book that you've read.

I usually only like books with pictures, but if i look at a type only book, it would be anything by kurt vonnegut jr.

Special mention to Slaughter House 5, The Sirens of Titan, and Welcome to the Monkey House.

johnny tapias autobiography.

I been wanting to get "Vida Locos" autobiography, from what I heard he lived a crazy fucking life.

Right now I'm reading "Children of Flames", its about Josef Mengele the SS Nazi doctor (aka the Angel of Death) and his crazy medical experiments on twins.

"Somebody up there likes Me" by former middleweight champ Rocky Graziano is a great book and a great story if you can get your hands on that (I think tehy made a movie about it).

For a believable take on U.S. history I liked 'The People's History of the United States'.

Def look that book up man - it really is something special. I regularly lament the fact that Steakley has only written two wonderful books.

As far as those damn Matt Damon flicks, I could not even tell if the first one was any good because I was so pissed off after is started just like the book and then just went in a completely different direction once he got to the bank. I did not even bother with the 2nd.

I do not have point of reference about Phoenix but from what I understand they did a generic combo of several different storylines in the comics that was kinda just slapped together for the movie...

The Prince of Tides - Pat Conroy.

I randomly picked this book up while traveling across Europe as it was one of the few english books in the apartment that I was in. I was skeptical as the title sounded a little fruity. A very good fiction book though. I ended up losing it before I finished it and had to buy another one which I took with me on a mountain climbing trip to Mt. Shasta.

True story: I was up into the wee hours of the morning reading this by flashlight in a tent on a snowfield at about 10,000 ft above sea level on the side of Mt. Shasta. Hard to put down.

Note: Don't be put off by the movie. It's HORRIBLE.
