Alexander Emelianenko vs. Fabricio Werdum

Werdum starts off with a couple of hard low kicks. Werdum goes for the takedown, and the fight goes to the ground. Fabricio is able to pass Alex’ guard, and manages to get into mount position. He gets in a few nice shots to the head. After a while, Werdum ends up in side mount, and starts throwing knees to Alex’ head. Alex tries to block them, and when he does this Werdum moves back into mount position, and goes for a side choke. Alex seems to be in trouble, and has to tap out.

Winner: Fabricio Werdum by submission: side choke.

sucks aleks lost i was routin for him but you have to give big props to werdum on an impressive win

I don't want to start a bandwagon jump off but I haven't ever been impressed by Aleks,people give him credit for the way he won some of his fight not for who he beat and he beat nobody of importance,or not often.Werdum showed that he was a World class BJJ guy and has good wrestling too.And training with Mirko he also showed he could adapt to striking.Aleks unlike fedor showed great hand speed but sometimes poor footwork.Werdum is very quick on his feet.I'm not that surprised.

buddy you cant say aleks didnt beat some decent fighters he fuckin fought mirko in like his fourth mma bout and he didnt do bad at all.

He fought Mirko,didn't do any damage to him.I don't even remind he put him on the ground.I was talking about beating someone decent.I give him credit for beating Kharitonov that's all.

I was dissapointed with one of my favorite fighters ....... He got caught in a head and arm choke ...... imagine a 160 pounder subbing someone with this from guard to a 200 plus...

Aleksander is less focused and methodical than Fedor.He has almost the same tools but is less focused and motivated.WIth Fedor there's no measurement.He already knows the way the fight will go when he enter the ring.Then it's destruction mode.

i've said many times aleks is one of the most overrated fighters in MMA. i always LOL @ the people who say he would destroy arlovski... which i hear a lot!

Could this happen to Andrei Arlovski? I mean Aleksander Emelianenko and Arlovski are both very good strikers except Arlovski carries leg kick, Aleksander better striker, and Arlovski more well versed in submissions.

Aleksander is not a better stand up fighter than Arlovski.Aleks lacks footwork and it puts him in Danger sometimes.Like against Cro cOp or Kharitonov...His feet are not well positionned enough when he strikes,unlike Fedor whose footwork is incredible(what's not incredible in Fedor?)
