Fight 1 – Hector Lombard vs Gegard Mousasi (Welterweight GP Alternate Bout)

ROUND 1

Lombard comes in and clinches nearly gest Mousasi down and tosses him down and is in half guard

9:30

Lombard still working in half guard but Mousasi gets guard... Lombard lets go of a left hand on the ground, not much action so far w/ a minute into it... Lombard is stacked up and Mousasi is just kind of peppering him w/ shots now Lombard answers but not much going on.

Lombard gets side mount and has an arm triangle almost it looks like... He gets mount for a second and has rear control but Mousasi rolls and now Lombard has mount but Mousasi gets half guard and reverse position. He gets Lombard on his back and in side mount he starts w/ hammer fists right away. Bit of scrambling and Mousasi goes for a stomp Lombard grabs the leg and is working for something. Mousasi gets out of it for now but Lombard keeps at it and now lets go.

Mousasi has mount and rains down punches, Lombard turns his back and Mousasi has rear control and is on his back in the RNC position kind of. Has the hooks in on Lombard and is going for the RNC... Lombard doing a good job of defending though.

6:10

Mousasi still has the hooks in and is still looking for a RNC... Lombard gets warned for grabbing the ropes momentarily and Mousasi goes for it once again but doesn't look like he has it in tight enough.. he has a body triangle on Lombard. Lombard escapes from the RNC attempt...

5:30

Mousasi is on his back w/ his hooks around Lombard occasionally going for the RNC. When he does Lombard escapes and from there he hits Lombard w/ peppering shots from behind. Lombard grabbed an arm for a second and Mousasi just hit him a few times and he let go.

Lombard trying to work from this position but can't do much b/c he's stuck in the body triangle. Mousasi is maintaining position. Lombard turns and tries to turn the tables and get Mousasi on his back w/ him in control but it doesn't work. Lombard's corner I think said to "get that body triangle off" Mousasi raises his legs up high like he's trying to really sink that body triangle in but nothing happens.

3:20

Mousasi still working for the RNC but it's just the same thing over and again. Mousasi tries to tighten up the choke, Lombard defends and then Mousasi hits him w/ peppering shots, wash, rinse, repeat at this point w 2:45 left in round one.

Mousasi still working for the RNC but it's just the same thing over and again. Mousasi tries to tighten up the choke, Lombard defends and then Mousasi hits him w/ peppering shots, wash, rinse, repeat at this point w 2:45 left in round one.

2:30

Lombard looks like he might get on top in control but Mousasi is good at avoiding and keeping position. Ref restarts them standing, FINALLY!

2:00

They're in the center again, low kick misses by Lombard, high kick nearly landed by Mousasi..

another high kick from Mousasi nearly lands, low kick by Mousasi, straight right lands by Mousasi hard, that was a good shot! Another high kick, they exchange for a second but nothing happens really...

Mousasi jabs another high kick, Lombard answers w/ a low kick. Mousasi gets Thai clinch and lets go of some knees to the body and a high kick on his way out.

1:00

Lombard tags Mousasi and he kinda stumbles but got tagged again just right there as he had clinch and Lombard let go of a looping right hand, knees to the body by Mousasi in the clinch. Another exchange w/ IMO Lombard getting the better. Lombard shoots, gets a leg and gets Mousasi on his back and is in a kind of weird position but gets out and is in side mount I think but Mousasi gets guard.. nice!

Not sure how much time is left, that's it...

Lombard looks a little tired in his corner, looks like he's breathing heavier than Mousasi, he gets water from his corner as his corner and Yoshi massage his arms.

HL of Mousasi GNP Lombard and he tagged Lombard w/a good left hand that got rear control.. HL of Lombard landing an overhand right on Mousasi that made him stumble a few steps. More water for Lombard and more water, he's thirsty... lol

Mousasi now w/ his corner man rubbing his neck, gets his mouthpiece, SECONDS OUT PLEASE...

ROUND 2

Lombard comes forward and slips and falls down, Mousasi goes for a stomp but they scramble and Mousasi ends up on top in side mount and now mount... starts letting go of rights and left, Lombard turns his back and once again Mousasi has rear control and is peppering Lombard w/ punches.

Lombard is working to get out of that rear control position that Mousasi has but Mousasi sinks in the body triangle and I don't think he's going anywhere unless he gets that off... wow as I said that he does.

Lombard turning out of it for a second but Mousasi gets the body triangle again. The ref warns them for "action!" but not much going on. I wouldn't be surprised at a ref restart any second now. Warning them twice for action.

3:20

Mousasi keeps going for that weak RNC attempt and Lombard defends and he just peppers punches, little pitter patter punches until he eventually goes for the RNC again.

2:45

Not much going on Mousasi is on his back has his hooks in and is occasionally trying for a RNC.. ref stands them up and gives Mousasi a yellow card..

2:30

Back in the center standing and Mousasi feinting w/ jabs, Lombard comes forward w/ a right hook, they exchange and Mousasi gets clinch, knees to the body and throws Lombard off. High kick by Mousasi and Lombard lands w/ a left hand... they exchange again and Lombard is landing on Mousasi w/ looping shots, Mousasi closes the distance, gets clinch and lands knees to the body, low kick as he circles out the clinch...

1:35

Mousasi comes forward w/ a punch and they kind of scramble around and end up back in the center...

1:00

Lombard throws a combination and Mousasi circles out. Jab by Mousasi countered by a 1-2 combination by Lombard, straight right by Mousasi but Lombard counters and quickly for most of Mousasi's attacks. Mousasi has his back against the ropes for a second Lombard lets go of his hands, Mousasi clinches and lands knees to the body while Lombard throws looping punches that land from the clinch... Lombard misses a wide punch, Mousasi gets him down while he's off position and once again rear control right up to the bell...

RESULT: Mousasi by Unanimous decision (End Round 2)
Fight Rating: 6.5/10

They show a clip of Mousasi going for a stomp on Lombard and he just misses that stomp... Mousasi leaves victorious... I think I read that Filho/Misaki are up next...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fight Two - Paulo Filho vs. Kazuo Misaki (Welterweight GP Semi-Final Fight 1)

Filho coming down in the tool time shirt

Here we go Filho/Misaki

ROUND 1

Both fighters look cautious, Filho looks like he wants to come forward, low kick and Misaki is moving back maybe looking to counter... I hope he plans on that flying knee for the takedown.. nice body shot by Misaki... lead right hook to the body. Nice!

9:00

I'm surprised Filho hasn't went for the takedown yet... he closes the distance as I say that and gets tagged by Misaki... Filho clinched up and gets Misaki down and in open guard for now... passes, or at least TRYING to pass into side mount or at least half guard. Bit of a struggle, Filho punches Misaki twice w/ his right hand.

8:00

Filho taking his time here as he looks to pass, another right hand from Filho lands he goes up high like if he's going for a arm triangle choke on Misaki, Misaki just peppers away w/ punches.

7:30
Filho taking his time here as he looks to pass, another right hand from Filho lands he goes up high like if he's going for a arm triangle choke on Misaki, Misaki just peppers away w/ punches.

7:10

Filho still trying to get to half guard and gets mount! that was nice! He put his foot over Misaki's leg in an attempt to pass and ended up mounted as Misaki moved...

Filho really taking his time here, mounted and is just sitting up high smothering Misaki so far for about 15-20 seconds so far. Misaki trying to create some distance for himself and Filho lands some lefts, right.

Misaki nearly gives Filho hi back for a second... Filho is mounted and is landing some shots every once in a while... left hooks from the mount for Filho another left shot and Misaki tries to get Filho out of mount by scooting up.

Misaki gives up his back almost again Filho hammers away w/ some shots and once again is in mount position just looking and really picking his shots as Misaki struggles to either get him out of mount or bob and weave on the ground.

4:50

Filho is letting go of his hands more now seems like he's letting go of his punches the more time that passes. Misaki thrusting up trying to get Filho off mount but he just stumbles for a second, lands some shots.

4:00

Filho riding up high in mount position, Misaki once again turns and gives Filho his back he finds his way back to mount and Filho once again just looking to land some shots when he can and they're good punches. Filho manoeuvrings up top trying to deceive Misaki and land something but doesn't work... Misaki pulls him in close for a second but Filho, well, he's Filho and he just busted ass out of that shit...

2:45

Filho mounted for quite a while, now really raining down shots, Misaki turns his back for a second and this time Filho continues to strike him, Filho goig for the RNC once again as Misaki gave his back, Filho ends up this time in half guard and the crowd applauds Misaki for his efforts.

2:00

Filho riding up high now in the side mount, no I'm sorry, half guard, they're both exchanging, more answering each other's strikes. Filho hits Misaki to the body, Misaki hits Filho in the head.

Filho in mount again sitting up high and looking to land some shots and Misaki looking to defend and holds the glove of Filho who looks at the ref like "Hey! he's holding my glove"

I think he might've pissed Filho off there... now Filho is in the corner landing some shots when he can and occasionally Misaki turns his back but lately Filho has decided to continue striking Misaki instead of going for the RNC..

Misaki goes up high w/ his guard and is using the ropes as leverage around Filho's neck, Filho goes for an armbar IT'S OVER FILHO BY ARMBAR

Filho/Misaki embrace in the ring and Misaki drives Filho all the way to his corner in the embrace as Filho rubs his head and they exchange words in close, Filho kisses Misaki on the head and they're still talking to each other head to head, they hug and Misaki embraces Filho's corner, Filho gets his hand raised and Filho/Misaki bow in the center... lots of sportsmanship. Filho needs to hall ass out of there he's in a tournament... Misaki bows to the crowd before he leaves

RESULT: Paulo Filho by Armbar late in Round 1
Fight Rating: 7.5/10

Gomi/Aurelio up next... they have a complete promo HL movie style package for Gomi...

Showing his loss to Aurelio, flashes of him being CTFO and a clip of him walking the street, Aurelio celebrating.

Aurelio says he knows about what he do, Gomi's weaknesses and his strengths so he knows everything...

He also says he wants to prove he's the champ here and the superstar... Gomi is speaking but don't know what he's saying, says something and kinda laughs w/ a unsual expression, I don't know...

here we go Gomi vs. Aurelio 2 FOR THE TITLE, announcer is introducing Aurelio

Here comes GOmi, crowd already starts up before he's even announced... same entry music as usual and we've got some pyro going on nice! Here he is... I thought he'd have his GP belt, too like last time,

I wish somehow I could just close my eyes and them already starting the first round off... Gomi is now in the ring in the center and bows to the crowd. He has orange HL in his hair this time, looks kinda funny.

After the playing of the Brazilian and Japanese national anthems, Pride Executive Takada addresses the crowd and shows the Lightweight Belt that’s on offer.

The fighters are officially introduced, Aurelio gets some boos.. and the crowd cheers for Gomi the home town favourite. The bell rings…the fight is underway.

Back in the center standing....

Gomi switches orthodox and lands a jab but switches right back to southpaw another low kick lands by Aurelio on Gomi who's just a little late in trying to counter w/ a left hook. Jab to the body by Gomi, jab by Aurelio...

Very cautious fight so far, neither fighter has opened up very much, Gomi jab to the body, feints a low kick and Aurelio fires a low kick and lands it.

Gomi seems to be getting more comfortable in there, he seems like he's moving a bit more or something... I think he may be finding his range.

Jabbing at each other right now while moving around the ring, body kick by Gomi and Aurelio acknowledges it end of round they embrace...

RESULT: Takanori Gomi Wins by Split Decision (End Round Two)
Fight Rating: 6.5/10

Gomi was nowhere as aggressive as he usually was, probly because he realises how good Aurelio was on the ground. Gomi made him pay when he missed the takedowns, but overall quite an average title fight. A title fight none the less.

That just looked exactly like the end of round 1. Misaki knees to Kang's head. They stand up and Misaki knocks Kang down with a strike.
