The Fire 11-02-2006, 09:06 PM Were you injured, Res? You can't take a month off and keep your edge man. I have been rolling with a mildly sprained MCL for about a month and a half, on the bad days I at least drill if not spar just to stay sharp. You got to keep at it man.
Resin 11-02-2006, 09:12 PM Yeah i was injured but i've been studying and learning new tricks so im fully preparred already i will go straight into turtle position when i roll tonight......
I have been lifting weights a lot though since i've been out i feel a lot stronger then i have so i am not in any fear.

the thing about me is im kind of a big deal ............. because i was never taught submission by any instructor just my uncle who is a huge MMA fan and i started off learning the basic's back in 93 when i was just a little kid at first i didnt really understand fully the fighting aspect more of just the submissions used......... and from there i learned and learned some more then stopped for a few years because my mind was occupied then i started actually going to a real bjj gym in my area..... the first time i get on the mat's i submit my opponent as soon as he shot in on my he went for the double leg and i got him in a guillotine the funny part after class my instructor said something like back in the early ufc's 80 percent of the submissions were guillotines ........ made me think about shit and how i shouldnt let anyone beat me because i've been doing this longer just not everyday and i still continue to show up to my local gym im just never on time i show up when they are about to roll.............. that is it i'm a beast on the mat's ppl always ask me where eles do i train and they get a surprised look when i say just here..............
ninjashoes 11-02-2006, 11:02 PM Yeah the guillotine was being used almost every fight back in the early days. Now that everyone can defend it you dont see it so often but if you get it in quick and tight it works wonders still. Its also great in a street fight since you really cant get bit or eye gouged or even hit in the groin if you have your legs wrapped.
Resin 11-02-2006, 11:18 PM Yup..... it's amazing how fast u can finish someone
xhale 11-02-2006, 11:33 PM calf crushers > *

The exact reason I used it during that stupid fight I got into on Halloween.
Res, where exactly in CA are you? I am going to be in the Bay area the week after Thanksgiving. I go to LA from time to time, but not as often. That would be awesome if we could roll and post it here on Ninjashoes. I am testing for my blue belt in 2 weeks so I know the basics. When I'm on, I can hang with most experienced blue belts and even some purple belts, though the guys in our school are really good. Our gym wins a lot more than we lose and we are the top BJJ gym within 200 miles of PGH easy. I have a lot to learn but am up for rolling with anybody at about any time man - I think it would be fun.
I'm about 5'10 and 190 lbs. Decent shape for a 33 year old guy but I could stand to lose another 10 lbs - I could be a beast at 170 if I could ever put my career on hold long enough to really focus.
