Do you guys know if these actually work? I play varsity rugby for my university and I need to drop weight because I am going back to my old position (hooker to scrum half for those of you who play; yeah I know it's a big change but our other hooker got injured and well lets just say its a long story). I mentioned it to my doctor that I would be taking them and he said that most of them are placebo so I’m a bit skeptical. If they do work do you guys have a suggestion on a good brand to get? This is the first supplement I have ever thought of taking so i'm kind of lost and nobody else on the team has ever taken them before.

Stay away from anything that increases your metabolism, it could mess up your heart. The best thing Ive ever used for weight loss is CLA, take one with every meal and you will lose fat twice as fast as normal.

Fat burners are a waste of time man. Do they work...of course they do...however the same effects you get from a 40-50 dollar fat burner you can get for free from a little hard work and proper dieting/nutrition.

It depends on what "fat-burner" you're talking about. Some work well, some don't. And some work better than others.

Most of the stuff you can buy at GNC is over-priced and only halfway decent in terms of effectiveness.

Your best bet is to go to some bodybuilding boards (mindandmuscle.net, anabolicminds.com, etc.) and do some research there.

CLA works good. Also, try drinking green tea at least twice a day. I find it as effective as taking fat burners. When i was losing weight for my fight i used thermo-burn, but it has ephedrine in it along with other things, (I live in Canada where ephedra is still legal)

Thanks, for the board links, the problem I was having is that I already eat well and exercise every day (mon-fri practice with weight trainning mon wed fri and games on the weekends) so it isn't like im a couch potato and I was getting frusterated with the lack of progress.

Yeah I also live in Canada and was considering it after talking to a bodybuilder at my gym but in the end decided against it.
