Mikkel Kessler (38-0, 29 KOS), the WBC/WBA super middleweight champion, said that if Joe Calzaghe (42-0, 31 KOs), the WBO/IBF super middleweight champion, is not willing to come over to his hometown of Denmark to fight him, he will fly over to England to fight Calzaghe in his backyard - if the money is right.

Kessler feels that Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is the best fighter in the world, and he should be considered the second best, and he wants to prove that he deserves that recognition by flying over to England to meet Calzaghe, or any other fighter - anywhere.

“I would be glad to fight Joe under the right financial conditions,” Kessler said. “I would go to England or he could come to Denmark. I will beat him in either place. I had said that Floyd Mayweather is boxing’s best pound-for-pound and that I am the second best fighter in the sport. I think I demonstrated that to some people here tonight. I will fight anyone who is out there.”

Calzaghe is past his prime, and at this point, Kessler definitely seems to be the more hungry of the 2. If Calzaghe focuses right like he did for the Lacy fight, it could still be competitive and entertaining scrap, but if he shows up like he did against Bika, it would likely be a different story.

I dont think you should write him off because of one lackluster performance dude, he is only 34, Lacy fight was only 7 months ago remember

Bika is a tough guy also

Calz is very good but he just wants a huge payday against B-Hop. It would be a great match up (Kessler vs. Calz). They both should consider a fight in Vegas for more exposure and potentially more money down the road.

I'm definitely not writing Calzaghe off, I'm merely saying that Calzaghe is a past his absolute prime of a few years ago. He's still got a sturdy chin, good handspeed and stamina, but it's not where he was during his peak when he was just a bit quicker and had an unreal gas tank. It's just a shame he never fought another great fighter in his prime. In no way am I saying he's close to being done as a top fighter, merely that at this stage of this career, he would have a tough time against Kessler. Just my 2 cents.

Joe is past his peak & IMO it's not on his best interests to fight a peaking destroyer like Kessler.
I'd be surprised if he & his management took the fight.
