Ok i watch UFC all the time and i think i can be a MMA fighter who knows. Maybe i will get my ass handed to me maybe not but i think its worth a try.

Although first i need some help getting in shape wanting to fight in the wieght range of 200-205 light heavyweight i wiegh as of now 215, i am 5,11 and sixteen years old. Cutting wieght is something i would like help on alot.

I would like to know what i can do to get in shape for this i have played football for the past 9 years got into high school wrestling and i am the best and it is my first year doing this i have been in 5 competitions won them all fairly fast. I am in fairly good shape but as you know a high school football player wrestler and track player more than likely is not any comparison to a MMA champion.

I also have been to Ohio and seen the miletich crew in action and seen what they people i seen were rich franklin and matt hughs. Please dont flame just looking for friendly help.

start training first. if youre 16, you wont be able to get a fight for another 2 years. get some submissions to go with your wrestling and learn some stand up. when it comes closer to be able to fight, you can start worrying about weight

Well i was just looking into some other post should i got into a MMA Gym i live in louisville, Ky there is this gym call THE core but idk seems so-so. but i am thinking of planning on packing my things for breaks from school to train with miletich in convington and cinci.

Good or bad a choice? I have 3 two week breaks from school a year fall/spring/winter and have 3 months off for summer. I can either get a friend down there to stay with or just get hotel.

It sounds like your naturally athletic and if your already doing good wresting you have a great start and could possibly be the best if your willing to work harder than any other man. I would keep wrestling and then find an mma gym to train with in the off season. Be careful not to burn yourself out though and make sure you get the proper supplements everyday. I'd be cool if you posted every now and then and let us know how your doin.

so-so is good at your starting point of mma. Try out the gym see what they have to offer. When you feel there is nothing more they can teach you then its time to move on.

If you want to get in fighting shape, you need to start running more than you did before. Try applying the tabatha method and the guerilla workout (basically sprinting, taking an 8 sec break and repeat until you puke/can't stand up). I find the Bas Rutten workouts to be pretty good, they do not have a constant rythm which is exactly what you need.

Since you wrestle and play football I assume you know the benefits of good nutrition; well read some more about it and do not neglect what you eat. Cut the sodas, increase your water and add some greens to your diet. You weight will drop and you will feel generally better and more dynamic.

I think regular practice is better than doing seminars unless you are already established. Train at your local mma place and keep up your wrestling. YOu need to develop striking and submission skills (or knowing how to avoid subs).

Do let us know how you get along.

Good luck

since you're only 16, i dont think you should cut wait just yet. with the tremendous amount of testosterone and growth hormone in your body right now, you should take advantage of this time in your life to get stronger. you will never have the same ability to gain the amount of strength you can gain now. you can cut weight later when you're like 19 or 20.

The Core is good for their Muy Thai, but as far as their BJJ and MMA, I don't know. They do have a good facility though. Have you tried Derby City Fight Club?
