creatine, glucosomine/chondroitin, whey protien, various amino acids. free forming and branch chained (BCAA) basically anything and everything that helps you repair your muscles so you can keep working out.
just saw an article on this a few minutes ago.

Really? I would say glutamine is pure crap. Creatine has countless studies showing it's effectiveness. Show me one for glutamine that isn't used on burn victims? Glutamine may have a bit of health benefits, but as far as strength and muscle oral glutamine blows. Just eat a high protein diet and you have not need for additional oral glutamine.

Based on studies, Creatine does great for SHORT-distance runners, sprinters etc, because of the increased ATP-energy stored in the muscles....for endurance athletes, the benefits are less noticeable, though still there. All-in-all, a good whey protein, creatine to bounce you back after those hard workouts, maybe BCAA's if the budget permits....
The only difference between Whey and say for example chicken breasts, is the rate of absorption. Whey disappears into your blood stream almost instantly. On the subject though, you may see a lot of crap terms related to whey thrown about, for example Hydrosolate, Isolate, Concentrate, blah blah blah..supposedly means better absorption (a.k.a. an excuse to just bump the price up!!)
A good priced whey should see you through when taken soon after a grappling/MMA/ strength/weights/cardio or whatever workout, together with your creatine. Boosts recovery like you wouldn't believe, and packs on the muscle (maybe not SUCH a smart idea if trying to make weight, but otherwise always gooooood, hehe)
I thought that creatine showed no performance benefits for endurance athletes? Has this changed? I haven't read much on it in the last few years.

Sorry if I created a misunderstanding! Creatine in itself doesn't help at all to increase endurance per se...so an athlete training EXCLUSIVELY endurance work will gain no benefits as far as I can tell from the science-talk. BUT, as I assumed in my post, endurance athletes also train other energy systems other than endurance-based.
For e.g. training anaerobically to increase VO2 max, or middle-distance running, lactic-acid threshold training, etc etc. And here they may benefit from the recuperation boosting powers of creatine supplementation.

I took creatine for around 2 years and concluded its garbage. I don't like having soggy muscles and an upset stomach.
I also feel like it loses its affect after a few weeks-couple months which is probably why so many people cycle it.
Creatine is something people take when they first get into supplementation but it seems to me just about everyone eventually quits taking it.
btw I took both creatine monohydrate and ester creatine
Glutamines immune system benefits are definetly proven. I really don't see why you would label it as "pure crap" when it doesent have the negative side effects something like creatine has. I love glutamine because it keeps me from getting sick as much and when I do get sick I recover much faster. Heres a link to a study where hospital patients are given glutamine and show increased white blood cell count. Hospital stays were substantially shortened.
http://journals.lww.com/annalsofsurgery/Abstract/1998/02000/Total_Parenteral_Nutrition_With_Glutamine.22.aspx
Heres an interesting study that states Glutamine supplementation prevents exercise-induced neutrophil apoptosis.

So yeah glutamine is pretty cool.

creatines side effects from wiki
There is limited systematic study of the safety, pharmacology, or toxicology of creatine. Individuals using creatine, including athletes, should be monitored by a healthcare professional. Users are advised to inform their physicians or other qualified healthcare professionals.
Some individuals may experience gastrointestinal symptoms, including loss of appetite, stomach discomfort, diarrhea, or nausea.
Creatine may cause muscle cramps or muscle breakdown, leading to muscle tears or discomfort. Strains and sprains have been reported due to enthusiastic increases in workout regimens once starting creatine. Weight gain and increased body mass may occur. Heat intolerance, fever, dehydration, reduced blood volume, or electrolyte imbalances (and resulting seizures) may occur.
There is less concern today than there used to be about possible kidney damage from creatine, although there are reports of kidney damage, such as interstitial nephritis. Patients with kidney disease should avoid use of this supplement. Similarly, liver function may be altered, and caution is advised in those with underlying liver disease.
In theory, creatine may alter the activities of insulin. Caution is advised in patients with diabetes or hypoglycemia, and in those taking drugs, herbs, or supplements that affect blood sugar. Serum glucose levels may need to be monitored by a healthcare professional, and medication adjustments may be necessary.
Long-term administration of large quantities of creatine is reported to increase the production of formaldehyde, which may potentially cause serious unwanted side effects.
Creatine may increase the risk of compartment syndrome of the lower leg, a condition characterized by pain in the lower leg associated with inflammation and ischemia (diminished blood flow), which is a potential surgical emergency.
Reports of other side effects include thirst, mild headache, anxiety, irritability, aggression, nervousness, sleepiness, depression, abnormal heart rhythm, fainting or dizziness, blood clots in the legs (called deep vein thrombosis), seizure, or swollen limbs.
Creatine is one of the most well researched and safest supplements you can take

Bobby Lashley uses BAZI to power his body in a healthy, natural way instead of with artificial supplements like MG Supplements used by fighters like Tim Sylvia and Chuck Liddell.
