hey bud, just a suggestion to protect your links
1) The strength and power forum is not a hidden forum. in other words, when you post this stuff it can be picked up by a google search.
2) code your links. like this. unless ninja has done something cool to this forum, links that are posted and clicked on are prioritized by google crawler (making them more likely to be found by their owners)
coding them prevents this

Yeah I'm not doing the whole book because I've done the relevent chapter and some other bits & pieces and frankly it's a right ball-ache. The quality's not hot - Xeones how do you do it? - but the info's there.
Anyway, go here:

I use optical character recognition software (ABBYY FineReader is the best) to make an editable document out of the scanned pages. If it's a good scan, it makes a perfect copy and you can print it into a PDF file. If it's not so good, few manual corrections of bad reads are necessary. Your scans are great, ABBYY reads this with no problems.
and frankly it's a right ball-ache
Imagine working with 500 pages of Mel Siff's Supertraining. That's what I do. THAT's hard. But it's worth it :) 18 pages of Kelso is nothing. :)

Damn, an OCR scanner, I'm jealous. I use a regular scanner with a combination of OCR software on my computer for that. I actually have a friend from Canada who offered to scan some rare books for me for free (Matt, if you're reading this, you're awesome), but I buy books as well.

I'm not sure how many posts you need, but at a certain post count, several hidden forums become available to you, including the instructional section, the highlights and fights section, the women section, and the Stash.
How does the OCR thing work? I ask because the "talent is overrated" link is all images so it would need to be run through on OCR to work on my kindle (i think?). I was going to ask if you don't mind to do it, but if it takes more than 30 seconds don't bother.

It takes much more than 30 seconds. Basically it analyzes an image and detects things it thinks looks like characters, records them, and creates two layers to the image--one identical to the original image, and one that acts as a readable/searchable text file.
You shouldn't need the pdf OCRed to read on the Kindle I don't think. It should just pick up like normal, you just wouldn't just couldn't do keyword searches.
It does display it, but it is very small. Not readable, and I cannot figure out a way to enlarge it.

I have Talent is Overrated in mobipocket format (but it comes with a username and password that the software uses to connect to the mobipocket server). Can you read that on your kindle?
.prc works perfect for the kindle, i used mobi pocket to attempt to put talent is overrated in that format, but when i copy the .prc it still only displays as the image on the kindle rather than the actual text.

Training of a Weightlifter is Roman, not Verkhoshansky. Verkoshansky wrote Programming and Organization of Training and Special Strength Training (Practical manual for coaches).

No, I remember ebook-santa but this is the first I've heard of your new site.
I did have a question about the statement that you issued on your site. You talked about how you were irritated with people reupping because they didn't respect the "share-earn-buy-share cycle".
I'm not arguing--reuploading it is too much of a hassle for me anyway--but I don't really understand why it would bother you...isn't sharing ebooks ultimately the purpose for your original uploading of them?
Xeones

I wouldn't BUY, for example, the third phase of Stronger if it wasn't for small money that I earned from sharing files. This usually happens:
- Someone gets to my blog, forum posts or whatever, usually through google
- They download my file, and decide to share it somewhere else, which is great
BUT they usually don't post the original link, they reupload it somewhere else. So, I lose those few bucks I would earn from people downloading from MY links.
- Because of all of that, I don't buy a new ebook/book, because I don't want to spend my money on it.
Of course, it sometimes happens that my share-and-earn hosting suck and that I need to provide an alternative link for it because someone for some reason can't download the file. I give it with no problem (you've seen it here).
but I don't really understand why it would bother you
If you're referring to the whole Dave Tate situation that's going on my blog right now, I don't get why you don't understand. If he reports my files and they get deleted from the hostings it will create a bunch of dead links all around the internet (where I post and where people repost). Fixing those dead links is nearly impossible, and reuploading the files again is tiring, especially for someone who has a horrible uploading speed (download to upload ratio is horrible in my country).
Sure, I can reupload those few elitefts books, but what if he reports everything else on the blog? Like Eric Cressey did?
Do you understand now?

Ahhh...I gotcha. So when people actually use YOUR links you earn a little bit of money every time which permits you to buy more books and not dip into your own pocket.
That is what I wasn't really clear on. I actually did not know that you could earn money with links like that.

Xeones: who are your favorite coaches/authors? And what are your must-have books for training & nutrition?
I like to go deeper than most people when it comes to training knowledge. So, my favorite authors are usually Russians (Zatsiorsky and such). Must have book is of course Science and Practice of Strength Training by V.M Zatsiorsky. Mel Siff's Supertraining is of course one of the greatest books on the subject but it can be a really really hard read, and covers too much things. Bondarchuk's Transfer of training is a good read for an aspiring coach, introducing the correlations in training. So, Russians rule...
I don't think about nutrition much, I keep it simple. People tend to overanalyze nutrition.
Coaches...I like what Eric Cressey and Mike Robertson do on the field of assessment and corrective exercises. But I also like the intensity that Joe Defranco brings in his training philosophy. I like the wisdom of Dan John.
I talk too much...
Freeman I was scheduled to start phase 3 tomorrow, but for a few different reasons im going to WS4SB. But yea I saw some gains for sure. It's a good program. Front Squat was probably up abotu 25lbs in the 8 weeks.

It seems like you and I have the same taste (Science and Practice of Strength Training...). I haven't read Supertraining and Transfer of training yet. I really hope that I'll have a chance to read them someday, especially Supertraining.
