damn steriods..hmmm how much do they cost? *thinking*
Tom Stall

steroids are expensive unless you live near the border. there are underground labs but the shit sometimes is bunk so you need to know the dealer well. i would still use it but only certain types.

msot of those legal supplments are just steroids too. its natural when it goes in but it becomes steroids in your body. or its designer shit thats gonna get outlawed

Creatine is awesome, its the quickest way to build size and strength thats legal. Get ester creatine though its newer than creatine monohydrate and works much better.

I never saw a difference when i was using creatine. And by that I mean, my gains were good before I used creatine, while I was using creatine and after I stopped using creatine. I think thats just due to good genetics though, so I may be an exception.

im just wandering because i need to gain some weight again...ever since i got out of jail i lost some weight...so im trying to pack on the weight that i lost.
Well according to my Aus version of Muscle and Fitness you should take it right before your workout and 30minutes after. Another thing you should be aware of is cycling. With creatine the effects are great but after using it for a long period you no longer get the same effect as your body becomes used to it. So it is recommended to use creatine for 12weeks then get off it for 12 weeks and then back on. This way your body does not become too used to it and you will achieve the best results. Hope that helps

You also don't have to cycle when you use ester creatine.

don't use for pre-workout.. u're wasting it if u do.. just stick to post-workout and remember to take it with high-glycemic carbs like sugar to get an insulin spike to stop muscle breakdown post-workout
the spike also helps u absorb the nutrients better like the creatine so it's also the ideal time to take ur multi-vitamin

i drink it with cranberry juice...is that a good thing?

The cranberry juice thing is a myth. I would actually take it pre workout, It gives you a huge energy boost, I dont see any reason to take it post workout, the whole point is to be able to workout harder.
Yeah creatine should be used preworkout for the energy boost ninja speaks of and post workout to retain fluids so your muscles grow. Muscles are up to 70% water and creatine helps them remain hydrated. Ninja are you sure you dont need to cycle ester creatine?

i take Emer'Gen-C vitamin C drink pre-workout to keep me hydrated and boost energy.. the main purpose of creatine is to help ur muscles recover faster.. which makes sense to take it post-workout
and cranberry juice helps u urinate more=cleans out bladder/kideney's ;)

It does help your muscles cycle faster but it is a pre workout supplement. The whole point is to be able to work out harder and longer to produce more gains.

* What do the scientific studies say about when to take creatine?
Most of the studies involved giving volunteers powder creatine monohydrate before a workout. If they were doing a loading phase it was split into 4 servings (5 grams each) and these were given throughout the day. Still other studies split the dosage even in the maintenance phase and give half the creatine before a workout and the other half after.
This all sounds confusing - but it points to two facts. First, very few studies have been done with taking creatine only after a workout. Second, the exact timing of when you take the creatine may not be critical. As long as you have creatine available to your muscles - it will be effective.
---------
Cranberry juice is a diuretic and it does clean out your kidneys. However it is acidic and quite sour.

Theres research that says cycle and research that says its not necessary. One downside of creatine though is when you stop taking it you notice a big performance decrease.

u guys might as well do steroids, this cycling crap with gnc supplements is ridiculous
Meh the whole cycling business is all a result of conflicting information available in books, magazines, internet, people etc. I think the best way to go is test out what works for you.

Some people don't react to creatine monohydrate for some reason, but may react to nitrogen based (if I remember correctly) creatine. My brother was the same way. He tried monohydrate but it did nothing to him. Once he tried the nitrogen based stuff he was making great gains.

i got the same energy boost when i was taking creatine it is a great PRE workout supplement it helps you lift more and workout harder which makes your muscles build back stronger than if you did not take it. also shoei you will experience an almost immediate weight gain from water retention. creatine worked great for me and my lifting partner and i know several people who took NO xplode which is the nitric oxide combined and it works great for them. definately helps muscle gain.

Creatine is great for High intensity events that last a short duration, such as weight lifting. It gives you a little more energy, which will allow you to rack up more reps, which in turn builds muscle. How it works is it makes the ATP in your body last a little longer. ATP is what fuels your muscles. There is only a certain amount of energy stored in your body, about 15-20 seconds. Once that ATP is burned up, the cells go through the Kreb Cycle which generates new ATP. When you supplement creatine those 15-20 seconds turn into about 5 additional seconds of ATP usage. So yes it does work, but it shouldn't be used for endurance exercises, you see the benefits there. The benefits of creatine supplementation come from HIGH Intensity exercise. Make sure you drink a lot of water because one of the side effects can be dehydration. Unfortnately, stomach cramps, diaherria, and some muscle stiffness can also be side effects of extra creatine intake. It also isn't necessary to take creatine supplements at all. Our bodies make it and we get some of it through diet. But from personal experience creatine supplementation combined with a dedicated, intense workout plan, and a good diet can produce noticeable results. After I cycle I took a few years back I was never bigger or stronger. Just remember to cycle on and off.

Great post but I disagree with the cycling. When you quit taking creatine you notice you get considerably smaller and weaker. When you take it again the effects kick back in so in your mind you think wow I stopped taking it and now its working again like when I first started. Its never been proven in any lab that you build up any tolerance to creatine.

If you are going to use creatine you should take it with a protein shake 45 minutes before your workout and take another scoop with a protein shake right after your workout for best results.
