IBF light heavyweight champion Clinton Woods is still set on a rematch with that many that beat him four years ago, Roy Jones, Jr.

After gaining a measure of revenge on Glen Johnson when when the two fighters met on September 2 for a trilogy battle, and Woods walked away with a hard fought decision. Woods is suffering from a torn tendon in his arm, and the injury requires surgery. Clubcall reports that Woods is planning to return in the first quarter of 2007, and hopes that Jones will be his first opponent.

"Now I just want to have this operation, heal up, and come back next year better than ever," said Woods. "Now I've got revenge on Johnson, Roy Jones is my new number one target. I wasn't ready for him when I fought him four years ago but I've matured late and I think I can stay at this level for at least two years."

"In that time I think I can get the fights I want and leave a good legacy. Not too many fighters have come back from disappointments like I have and then make three defences of a world title."

Good idea to call out a big named fighter past his prime. At the least he gets some easy publicity. At the most he fights him eventually and gets paid bigtime.

Woods got his as kicked last time they fought, I liked Woods because he fought like a warrior but to call out Roy now is stupid

Roy is half of what he was as a boxer now. Only time for most guys to have a decent chance to get a W over him on record.
