View Full Version : anyone got a system in their car? ninjashoes 09-25-2006, 03:00 AM pics? Sami83 09-25-2006, 03:19 PM Depends what qualifies as a system, i have something small. I've always loved music, an i was a car sound enthustiastic before i was old enough to get a car. My last car was '88 vw jetta, what a piece of shit, it had a very cheap cd player (that i bought from flee market) in it with 2-way coaxial speakers in the dashboard that i stole from my dads toyota landcruiser. I didnt want to spend much money on that car's sound system because that car itself was a peace of crap. So, i bought my current car last feb/march, cant remember, and i immidiatly started upgrading the system. It had a blaupunkt cassette player, two-way 5,25" speakers in the front (bass element in the kick panel, tweeter in the dashboard) and 5,25" coaxial spekers in the back. first i upgraded the old cassette player to a new mp3 player, blaupunkt kingston mp35. http://mnogo.com.ua/img/products/6/6942_big.gif The change in sound quality was remarkable. Then, it was time to change the old bmw oem speakers to new ones. For the front, i chose DLS b6 speakers. http://www.autostudio.fi/images/DLS-B6.jpg DLS makes quality components, and after doing some research i decided to buy this kit. The new bass elements were 6,5" so the old kick-panels needed some dremel-work. Also, the kick panels were pretty thin plastic, so i installed an mdf board under the plastic kick panels. I disconnected the back speakers from the player because they were still the old ones and their sound sucked, they were to be upgraded later. The new sound was pretty awesome. After awhile i replaced the back speakers with DLS 225 coaxial speakers. I had this system for some time but as always, you just want more. one thing that started to piss me off was the tweeters. in some songs my ears almost started to bleed, not seriously, but you know what i mean. they "screamed". The Blaupunkt mp3 player didnt offer as much options to fine-tune the sound to get rid of this problem, and i started to get tired of this very basic player. Also on thing that bothered me was that the bass went too deep for the front speakers to handle, and there wasnt an option to cut-off the lowest frequences. so it was time for a new mp3 player, and i chose the pioneer p80mp http://www.fotorimex.pl/images/big/233.jpg it isnt the newest model, 2004 i think, but its still one of the coolest for sure. Its powerful, and what i really love about it is that there is shitload of options to tune the sound. But still, it wasnt enough to get rid of the screamin tweeter problem, but it helped alot. so, the next purchase will be a new two-way set for the front. Also what my system lacks is a subwoofer, it will be installed in the future. the pioneer head-unit is more than enough to drive the speakers, but as you know, hunger gets bigger while you eat, and amps are coming into the picture very soon. to be continued. Sami83 09-25-2006, 04:41 PM heres some pics. sorry about the quality, took em with my pre-jesus phonecam. as you can see, simple stuff. the player pioneer deh-p80mp http://ninjashoes.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=12&d=1159198324 the rear speakers are in the original places. DLS 225 http://ninjashoes.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=13&stc=1&d=1159198450 http://ninjashoes.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=14&stc=1&d=1159198450 kick panel, DLS B6 6,5" http://ninjashoes.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=15&stc=1&d=1159198450 http://ninjashoes.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=16&stc=1&d=1159198450 the sceaming tweeter here. i installed them as a temporary measure in the original speakers grills, but there they are still after six months. it doesnt look that bad in my eyes. later i will install the new tweeters in the A-pillars. ninjashoes 09-27-2006, 12:28 AM I'm gonna get a nice system in my car when I start coming into money again. For me though the priority is my house system because I spend more time there. I love some good bass though, nothing beats it. tropicana619 10-02-2006, 06:38 PM I have a car system hooked up to a stereo receiver, and it's connected to my computer. Mad bass. Dert McGert 04-29-2007, 08:50 PM I did at one time. I have to sell my car it was in. I use to do the db drag sound competition. I was that kid that drove around with loud rap music, making your piece of shit car shake to pieces. The car it was in. It has seen better days. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u158/DertMcGert/DSCN0501.jpg The box that owns a world record. I got the box from the stereo shop because I had a CRX. One of the best cars to do stereo competition in. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u158/DertMcGert/DSCN0500.jpg The port. The top part that says NXS comes out. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u158/DertMcGert/DSCN0499.jpg Diamond M3 subs. I have an old surround sound theatre in my basement and if i'm going to do any upgrading of any audio it will be in my house not in my car. Squirrel 05-03-2007, 12:19 AM I have a factory 1993 Plymouth Acclaim AM/FM system in my whip. Dert McGert 05-03-2007, 04:25 AM That one I have pictured, my girlfriend bought. $1200 for it. I have had so many different ones in my car. The ones before those were stolen out of my car. I had a $1000 JL Audio Amp and a $500 Clarion CD player taken from me. That fucking pissed me off.
