This phone will be better as well, http://www.htc.com/www/product.aspx?id=49518

http://www.htc.com/uploadedImages/WWW/Product/HTC_Touch_Pro/Gallery/large7.jpg
The HTC Touch Pro™ brings together elegant touch screen response with the direct precision of keyboard entry… leaving out nothing to deliver a powerhouse communication tool in a beautiful, compact design.

The 2.8-inch VGA touch screen provides four times the resolution of most smart devices, making email, documents and web pages sharper and easier to work with than ever before.

HTC’s rich, touch-responsive interface, TouchFLO™ 3D, provides a stunningly intuitive way to zip through common tasks like messaging, calendar checks or making calls. Delve a little deeper to find that playing media files, searching for contacts and surfing the web are also responsive to your touch.

The web browser puts the full Internet in the palm of your hand. Websites look just like they do on a PC, and TouchFLO™ 3D makes it easy to pan around and zoom in on exactly the information you’re looking for. If you need a wide screen, simply tilt the Touch Pro sideways and the page switches to landscape view.

Slide out the 5-row QWERTY keyboard to make light work of typing-intensive tasks like composing email or working on Microsoft Office® documents… perfect for when your day takes a serious turn.

High speed connectivity will keep you in touch with colleagues and contacts wherever you are. Integrated GPS can be used with maps software for a full turn-by-turn satellite navigation experience.

Built-in Wi-Fi and TV-out functionality* mean you can hook up to the local wireless hot spot to surf, then deliver the perfect PowerPoint® presentation without a laptop in sight.

A beautiful angle on business, the HTC Touch Pro introduces effortless presence to enterprise-standard communications.

Highlights

Mobile Internet features - surf and download at broadband speed with HSPA and Wi-Fi®.
2.8-inch touch screen, with four times the resolution of most phones.
Vibrant TouchFLO™ 3D user interface.
Five-row QWERTY keyboard for quick and easy text entry.
3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera with flash light for quality stills and video.
microSD™ slot for expandable storage.
Integrated GPS can be used with maps software for a full turn-by-turn navigation experience.

The problem with the Omnia is its smaller screen compared to the iPhone, the X1 looks fat.

if it functioned better than the iPhone, would you care if it was fat? what if fatness made it more sturdy?

There already are phones out better then the iphone. AT&ts tilt and sprint and verizons 6800 model. They dont have a program built into them thats better then the iphone interface, but it runs on windows mobile. So many other programs available to download to make using the phones touch interface a breeze. Opera mini and sky fire blow iphones browser out of the water.

The diamond is nice, but its the same thing as the pro but lacks the keyboard of the pro. With as much texting and instant messaging that goes on these days i just cant do without a phone with a full keyboard.

Yeah, it's definitely going to be the software and and updates that win this war, something that the iphone has and that the android will

Hmm.. I have no experience with HTC.. what's makes them so bad?..

Also, I've heard complaints with Samsung generally on their touch screens not being responsive some times and their reception not being so great when compared to other brands.

I've heard some bad things about Palm as well, but I've played around a little on the Centro and IMO it's a pretty awesome phone.. I don't get why ppl hate them.. Everyone I know who has the Centro love it.

Sony is usually quality and very reliable which is why I'm excited about the X1. Plus I've had 2 sony phones so far and they're great. The big thing about the X1 is that it has expandable MicroSD (not that pro duo/M2 shit), has video conferencing capability, and has the latest Windows Mobile 6.

plus i love the fact it has metal casing.. that way it doesn't feel like cheap flimsy plastic.. :)

you saying that Windows Mobile doesn't have apps and updates? they have tons of apps and updates man.. if anything, they probably have the most apps of all other smart phones.. which is why X1 is going to kick some serious ass :sifone:

The X1 is a nice looking phone and i've never owned a phone that used windows apps, however i'm just not half as confident in Microsoft to deliver as solid an operating system as apple or google. Both companies are ultra aggressive right now and have stellar software, as opposed to Windows Vista which in my eyes and the eyes of many others is a lousy operating system (I stuck with XP). Hell, I hope that Microsoft does do well with their cell phone apps, I just don't have the confidence in them that I once did.

i don't think android will get carrier support if they keep it open-source... the LINUX phone is open-source and you have to pay the full price of the phone itself because no one wants to carry them.

Also this is Google's first entry into the phone business.. something that they've never done before.. same thing with Apple, which is why there've been thousands of complaints all over the web about the iphone's reception and speed problems

The iphone attempted to deliver an awful lot with the 1g so I don't think that it's unreasonable that there were so many glitches. I've heard nothing but good about the 3g's though. As far as google goes, I have a lot of faith in them. All there endeavors have launched seamlessly from what i've seen. Like I said before, i'm not biased, I just look Apple and Google these days and feel impressed by a lot of their projects these days.

Google's phone will RAPE everything else out. They are already letting people build apps for it - it will hit the market with awesome abilitys. Who needs car keys when you have a bluetooth Google Android to unlock and start your car.

good hands-on article on the phone at yahoo tech..

Not much of a looker (made by HTC), but the functionality looks promising..

That phone is ugly. Could they have made it a little better looking?

I'm still not buying any "Iphones" and I was hoping that the Google phone was the one.

meh, I'll wait for its next version (or some other provider)

yeh... i wonder why they can't just get a phone they already have like the Touch Pro, (talking about HTC) but just put android on it instead of their O/S?
