Yeah Barrera schooled him. Yeah he's nothing but a fat, brown midget now. Yeah he's a cocky asshole who nearly killed some poor fellow while driving recklessly in the wrong lane.

But who since Ray Leonard has the combination of talent and star power that he had? It's a real shame his career ended, he definatly had a lot of entertaining mega fights left in him.

Hiis "star power" wasn't that high here in the U.S. as it was in Europe and the U.K. Plenty of fighters had just as much star power as he did. As for a combination of both I would say...

Oscar
Jones Jr.
Mayweather

As for talent, Nas was talented but overrated. Who exactly did he beat? The only top fighter that I know of that he fought was Barrera and he got schooled by him.

his unorthodox boxing style is what got him beat.

Well the American public didnt really get a chance to get to know him. The point was that he was a fantastic showman to the point where you either loved him or hated him. No one is indifferent to Nas, everyone has an opinion on him and if he were to make a comeback, everyone would be interested in how it turned out.

I'll give you Oscar, although he wasn't half the showman Nas was, but Roy Jones? Jones probably had twice the talent Nas had, but he was never a big PPV seller and he talks too fucking fast, sometimes its hard to understand what he's saying.

I agree I perfer Hagler and Foreman over Leonard and Ali, mostly because I think Ali was terribly overrated as a person.

the US typically only embraces their flamboyant athletes but man he was fun to watch, I watched his fights w/women all the time

9/11 also fucked up Nas in the US, if I remember correctly he was set to fight in MSG that weekend and that was after his great fight vs the Flushing Flash where he ko'd Kevin Kelley

There are so many retarded boxing fans. Prince Naseem is one of the greatest ever characters to enter boxing. His unorthadox style and all angle-punching made him puzzling for his opponents.

He became the youngest British world champion of all time at 21 by demoralising Steve Robinson (if you haven't seen it you have to check that fight out, he spends the whole match with his hands down and chin out goading Robinson).

"Had Vazquez not been (deliberately) stripped by the WBA of his belt (they did not want their featherweight title unified with the WBO) Hamed would have the distinction of being the first boxer to hold all four world titles in a division. This is an overlooked accomplishment of Prince Naseem."

Naz beat some great fighters like Tom Johnson, Kevin Kelley and Paul Ingle. Granted he never beat the elite of his division but in his prime he was considered the elite and it is fact BARRERA and MORALES both avoided a match-up with him for a very long time.

Naz's decline was never a result of the increase in his opponents ability but more his own laziness. He stopped training like he should have and parted ways with his trainer Brendan Ingle (who had trained him since he was 7 years old).

I HATE people that try to discredit Hamed. Nobody EVER (and I mean EVER) came to the ring and performed with such style.

People talk about his cockiness but he was a very nice respectful family guy who got on well with his opponents after the fight (note Kelley and Ingle). His trashtalking was never as malicious as Floyd Mayweather and he brought so many kids to the sport of boxing in the UK.

I emulate my style on Naz in Muay Thai. My reflexes are so good (I use the routine pattern from Ingle's gym) that Im very elusive and difficult to hit.

WAR NAZ!

I'm a huge Barrera fan too, but I don't see why losing to Barrera automatically "exposes" you as a shitty fighter. I mean its Barrera goddamnit, the guy is one of the greatest Mexican fighters of all time, and thats saying something.

Plus the only reason Nas lost that fight is (A) because he neglected to do his standard front flip over the ropes and (B) some dude threw a beer at him during his entrance, totally throwing off his concentration.

My favorite part of that fight is Nas jumping 2 feet off the ground like a fish coming out of the water and getting nailed with a right hook in mid flight.

That fight isnt as bad as people make it out to be. It's only because Naz was HEAVILY the favourite it seems so bad.

When Hamed got hit it always looked much worse than the average boxer because of the way he would lean back to avoid the punch.

Barrera was SCARED stiff of the prince's power even in the 12th round. Barrera said Naz is the hardest hitter he has ever faced (even though he wasnt even knocked down by him or hardly hit clean). Full props to him but Naz wasnt his best in that fight.

He said that after his first fight with Pacquiao. He said pacman doesnt hit hard as Naz and that Naz is the hardest hitter hes ever faced.

Despite what it may have looked like Barrera and Hamed got on well with eachother. Barrera even spoonfed Naz some birthday cake :thatsgay:
