Alright so I have basic cable, like basic basic no digital or anything and have to find out whats on by using the tv guide channel, and I was reading on craigslist that about this dvr and was wondering if I would be able to use this with my basic crappy crap cable.

As long as you buy the DVR box yeah, it doesn't matter what service you have. I have DVR but no special channels like HBO or Showtime. You are going to have to pay for the DVR box though.

you should get a dodgy cable box instead.

I have Time Warner Cable(which used to be Adelphia Cable)and we have basic cable in the house and 3 DVR boxes. My DVR is the only one in the house programmed to record any shows. I pay around $90/a year for the DVR Service and about $45 monthly for cable. The service also provides you with a guide that shows you whats on, whats coming on next and whats coming on tomorrow or even 2 weeks from now. Its a great service and is so much better than Tivo.

So are you saying you have illegal cable? But yeah I was talking about the basic paid service (we do have HD channels too, but the DVR worked before that too).

no I mean I did take it from my neighbor but her cable is not stolen.

With a dvr box all I have to do is plug the cable into the dvr and wall-a instant dvr?
