ROger owns at the ground, he is the best

Mr SlippyFist
10-02-2006, 03:08 AM
Marcelo Garcia easy. Jacare next......THEN Roger. Roger has a big size advantage on Jac and Garcia especially. Garcia done pretty well against Roger in their match despite the size difference. Jacare vs Roger matches swing back and forth, Jacare's size disadvantage gives him the edge overall.

SolitaryIndividual
10-02-2006, 04:30 AM
size has nothing to do with it here ... the question is who is the best, and if roger defeats garcia then he is better than garcia

tropicana619

Best grappler is Marcelo Garcia.

No, it does matter, this is grappling. At his size Garcia is a better grappler than Roger.....full stop. Of course larger men will usually defeat smaller ones. The question should have been in that case "Who is the best heavyweight grappler in the world?"

except that WASN'T the question ... it was who is the best grappler in the world ... no weight divisions, no ages, no nationalities, just who is the best ... thats it

Mr SlippyFist
10-02-2006, 11:32 PM
Usually that question is meant in a "pound for pound" context.

Fantouz
10-08-2006, 11:40 PM
I would also add my vote for Roger, he tends to finish most ofl his fights by subs and doesn't go for points. I forgot which competition he won by submitting all his opponents, which had never happened before.

His size is an advantage but is not the only reason why he is on top of the grappling world. Werdum is a big boy and he got RNCd by Roger. Are you saying that only the bigger athletes are the best in grappling? Do you know how ridiculous that sounds? Size is a factor but not the only factor. This is not American football mate.
Stop hating and finding crap excuses, Roger is currently the best. End of story.

And the question is not usually asked in a "pound for pound" context unless it is specified ie. Who is the best p4p grappler/boxer/fighter/dancer in the world?

SolitaryIndividual
10-09-2006, 02:35 AM
yeah, grappling has long been known as a sport where size isnt necessarily an advantage, and yeah to agree with fantouz, anytime ive seen someone wanting to know who the best pound for pound whatever is the specify that they mean P4P ...

how do you think Sakuraba would stack up (p4p that is)? He doesnt get credit as a top grappler cause he doesnt enter grappling comps, but he proves it in mma. If strikes were not allowed, then he wouldve held his own against Arona, and hes 20 lbs lighter.

Yeah with ease!

Fedor's grappling isn't great, and roger my friend is the best!!
He beat marcelo, jacare twice, made aoki look like an amatuer little boy.
Jacare made werdum look like a kid, and roger pwned jacare with ease.

Roger's grappling accomplishments are amazing I can go down on all the list of accomplishments, he was the first ever to sub all 8 participants in a row in a tournament in the history of adcc.

he has never been subbed, has subbed tons of bjj guys, has only been outwrestled by randleman who outweighed him, has never been outgrappled, even by arona, who also outweighed him.

Yeah pretty much.
He was undefeated in adcc. Mostly all of them won on points, and he grappled against the best.
