Jacare next......THEN Roger. Roger has a big size advantage on Jac and Garcia especially. Garcia done pretty well against Roger in their match despite the size difference. Jacare vs Roger matches swing back and forth, Jacare's size disadvantage gives him the edge overall. SolitaryIndividual 10-02-2006, 04:30 AM size has nothing to do with it here ... the question is who is the best, and if roger defeats garcia then he is better than garcia tropicana619 10-02-2006, 07:26 PM Best grappler is Marcelo Garcia. Mr SlippyFist 10-02-2006, 08:06 PM size has nothing to do with it here ... the question is who is the best, and if roger defeats garcia then he is better than garcia No, it does matter, this is grappling. At his size Garcia is a better grappler than Roger.....full stop. Of course larger men will usually defeat smaller ones. The question should have been in that case "Who is the best heavyweight grappler in the world?" SolitaryIndividual 10-02-2006, 08:53 PM No, it does matter, this is grappling. At his size Garcia is a better grappler than Roger.....full stop. Of course larger men will usually defeat smaller ones. The question should have been in that case "Who is the best heavyweight grappler in the world?" except that WASN'T the question ... it was who is the best grappler in the world ... no weight divisions, no ages, no nationalities, just who is the best ... thats it Mr SlippyFist 10-02-2006, 11:32 PM Usually that question is meant in a "pound for pound" context. abman321 10-03-2006, 05:41 PM garcia through sheer tenacity Mr SlippyFist 10-04-2006, 02:21 AM More backing for Marcelo here......vs Vitor Shaolin Ribeiro...behold... SolitaryIndividual 10-04-2006, 04:56 AM check this out for sure http://www.bjj.eu.com/index.php?opti...=202&Itemid=44 thats some backing for roger SolitaryIndividual 10-04-2006, 05:30 AM check this out too, marcelo definitely held his own, but he was dominated on points Fantouz 10-08-2006, 11:40 PM I would also add my vote for Roger, he tends to finish most ofl his fights by subs and doesn't go for points. I forgot which competition he won by submitting all his opponents, which had never happened before. His size is an advantage but is not the only reason why he is on top of the grappling world. Werdum is a big boy and he got RNCd by Roger. Are you saying that only the bigger athletes are the best in grappling? Do you know how ridiculous that sounds? Size is a factor but not the only factor. This is not American football mate. Stop hating and finding crap excuses, Roger is currently the best. End of story. And the question is not usually asked in a "pound for pound" context unless it is specified ie. Who is the best p4p grappler/boxer/fighter/dancer in the world? SolitaryIndividual 10-09-2006, 02:35 AM yeah, grappling has long been known as a sport where size isnt necessarily an advantage, and yeah to agree with fantouz, anytime ive seen someone wanting to know who the best pound for pound whatever is the specify that they mean P4P ... toofastfiveoh 10-09-2006, 10:57 PM Rickson Swampeast 10-17-2006, 03:41 AM Alexander Karelin...............HANDS DOWN!!!! The Fire 10-22-2006, 08:03 AM 1. Roger Gracie 2. Jacare 3. Marcello Garcia Murray 10-26-2006, 12:22 AM I think Arona could prove his worth in a no time limit to the death grappling tourney. That'd be the only way to light a fire under his ass and get him to finish people. bispo 10-26-2006, 01:13 AM Garcia p4p ftw VTXRaider 10-27-2006, 05:00 AM I like Garcia and Xande continues to improve every time out hado3 11-07-2006, 06:55 AM jacare or marcelo garcia are by far the 2 best no one else then those to can do so good against heavier guys the always dominate the absolute division SolitaryIndividual 11-13-2006, 10:04 AM how do they dominate the absolute division if roger beats them?? Resin 11-13-2006, 11:51 AM ricksonbyarmbar aussjj 11-16-2006, 10:22 PM how do you think Sakuraba would stack up (p4p that is)? He doesnt get credit as a top grappler cause he doesnt enter grappling comps, but he proves it in mma. If strikes were not allowed, then he wouldve held his own against Arona, and hes 20 lbs lighter. Hardcore-Muay-Thai 11-16-2006, 11:50 PM marcelo garcia look him up on youtube or shiya aoki is good nismospeed5spd 11-17-2006, 12:43 AM rickson, or helio. duh, and ryan just becuase he is crazy Perko 11-17-2006, 02:01 AM best grappler currently fighting issssssss nah i cant say it i dont like him....he has been mentioned here enough Bruno_Barbarian 11-23-2006, 02:41 AM LOL at Sakuraba, Garcia hands down tobias 11-23-2006, 05:10 PM Garcie, jacare, xande VENDO 12-04-2006, 05:21 AM Roger gracie, garcia, jacare, xande. Resin 02-04-2007, 12:33 PM do you think roger gracie could submit fedor in a pure grappling match? andreazz 02-04-2007, 01:32 PM Aoki- maybe his not the best but i love his style:) i think that some day he will win the adcc VENDO 02-05-2007, 10:14 AM do you think roger gracie could submit fedor in a pure grappling match? Yeah with ease! Fedor's grappling isn't great, and roger my friend is the best!! He beat marcelo, jacare twice, made aoki look like an amatuer little boy. Jacare made werdum look like a kid, and roger pwned jacare with ease. Roger's grappling accomplishments are amazing I can go down on all the list of accomplishments, he was the first ever to sub all 8 participants in a row in a tournament in the history of adcc. Shogunownes 02-05-2007, 10:40 AM jacare....his style is badass Sloth 02-15-2007, 06:28 AM I'm no expert, but my favorite grappler to watch is definitely Roger Gracie. Awesome Judo, awesome BJJ and awesome transitions from one to the other. I've never met them, but they look like great overall grapplers. bc32football 02-15-2007, 05:35 PM Roger Gracie. sHoGuNzbeTTaH 02-16-2007, 04:52 AM Arona leedor 02-16-2007, 11:21 PM roger gracie BRN 02-17-2007, 05:24 AM sorry if this was laready posted but i culdnt resist..... FLemshady 02-26-2007, 05:39 PM Marcello Garcia or Roger Gracie Cameron 02-27-2007, 04:22 AM jacare and aoki are my vote mullard 03-01-2007, 02:49 AM Eddie Bravo is a Badass Hater_Huntin 03-01-2007, 05:47 AM Roger has to be considered the top grappler right now. RICKSON BY ARMBAR +1 Chaz 03-10-2007, 12:05 AM Arona in my opinion, he will just lay on anyone for 15 minutes and get the win. VENDO 03-10-2007, 12:25 AM Arona in my opinion, he will just lay on anyone for 15 minutes and get the win. Yeah pretty much. He was undefeated in adcc. Mostly all of them won on points, and he grappled against the best. |
