Tyson wasn't impressed with the lack of punches thrown and taunted Ricco.

Former UFC heavyweight champ Ricco Rodriguez lost in a split decision Tuesday night as boxing returned to the Las Vegas Hilton.

Rodriguez looks huge. But not in a good way like Kaspars Kambala. Ricco tipped the scales at 270 pounds.

Let’s put it this way, Ricco doesn’t look very suave.

He had Xtreme Couture boxing coach Ron Frazier in his corner and wore a pair of trunks with a Throwdown logo in an odd homage to MMA.

Mike Tyson made fun of the fight.

“Are you going to throw some punches or what?” he asked in round one.

Ricco’s opponent, a guy named Chad Davis from Phoenix, taunted the former UFC champ at the end of the first with a little hip gyration maneuver.

“Come on,” Tyson implored. “Try to hurt each other.”

Nobody got hurt. Well, at least not physically.

Evidently not everyone felt that he lost:

Ricco Rodriguez, a former heavyweight champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship fighting out of North Hollywood, CA, lost his second professional boxing match to fellow heavyweight Chad Davis, who improved to 1-1. It was your typical heavyweight affair; slow-paced, clinching, not a lot of punches thrown and agitation from the crowd. Neither man was knocked down or ever in danger of being stopped, yet after the allotted four rounds, it seemed as though Rodriguez’ higher punch output won him the fight.

That wasn’t the case, though, as two of the three judges scored the bout in favor of Phoenix’s Davis via tallies of 39-37. The other judge had Rodriguez ahead 39-37. Rodriguez, who holds a TKO win over mixed martial arts legend Randy Couture, dropped to 1-1 and walked out of the ring stunned that he lost. Most ringside observers felt he should have won as well.

270 is a huge improvement from some of the weights he was coming in at in his recent mma fights. He's only about 20-30 pounds away from his prime weight.

Yet more proof that the level of skill and power in the hands in MMA is nowhere near the level of pro boxing. Anderson please go out and call out Roy Jones again...

Yes,MMA is not as good as boxing but having said that, i think its because MMA athletes train on more different facets than boxers. Boxers only need to train their hands but MMA artists have to train groundwork and their legs (muay thai) plus wrestling.

Wow.... boxers only train their hands?.
Didn't you know that punching power comes from your legs? Hips? Your entire lower bodies?. And didn't you know that boxers work a shitload on clinches too? lol

Yes but they train only with jabs, hooks etc. They don't train kicks or knees or elbows do they? Boxers only work on pummeling in the clinch position not how to use knees. Everything you do no matter grappling or kicking or even fucking comes from your lower bodies power etc hips for thrusting in fucking, hips for guard position in bjj and hips for punching power in boxing and muay thai

Use your brain before you post. It's not like Ricco has ever been known for his hands in MMA.

i doubt he's trying to go far in the sport, he's probably just trying to tighten up his hands.
