Lightweight Purple belt division, I ended up with 1st Place and had some good matches:
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/CwBEwCPnEoI&hl=en"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/CwBEwCPnEoI&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

This match was tough. I respected this guys skills alot having seen one of his earlier matches and he looked really good.
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/fYRcvGKUOe4&hl=en"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/fYRcvGKUOe4&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Finals:
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/-ELkQnOn9eM&hl=en"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/-ELkQnOn9eM&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

No gi, Advanced Lightweight division. I won my first match via heel hook:
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/q6hwJvcyO20&hl=en"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/q6hwJvcyO20&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

I was extremely happy to get this match. I was actually cheering the guy to win his previous match because I knew if he won I would get to go against him. He's a good Black belt from Renzos school in NY and he's been competing at a high level for a while. I ended up losing by a pretty wide point difference (13-2 I think), but I was psyched to have the chance to go against him and I feel like I learned alot from the experience:
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/jfPX_KIXFF8&hl=en"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/jfPX_KIXFF8&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Hi Nicm125,

I'm wearing a Mideival gi from On the mat. It's pretty awesome, they hooked me up with it for the Pan ams and I think it's my favorite gi. Lightweight, sturdy, great for summer training and it fits like a glove. (well, used to...I gained a little weight, lol so it's a little small).

It's really similar to the Gameness Pearl weave except the collar is slightly less bulbous.

I think they run about $160 but they are well worth it imo.

Thanks bro! I'm working hard and I really want to get to that level. I just want to compete against the best with and without the gi and there are some real badasses in the Brown belt divisions locally and in the big tournaments that I would love to compete against and learn from.

Pretty sweet. I have a Gameness Pearl, but the collar is tight around the back of my neck. Does this GI suffer from the ailment?

I haven't noticed that at all with this one. I'll ask around at the gym to see if any of the other guys noticed this or not.

Thanks! I train at Balance studios in Philadelphia (Phil and Rick Migliarese) and compete at either feather or lightweight. So somewhere between 147 and 155.

I like that choke in the first video, though I don't use it very often.

It looks like you attempted X-guard in that match against the black belt. Was that the idea?

Good rolling.

Thanks!

I was going to try to do an x guard sweep, but I saw the opportunity to go for a heel hook, so I didn't come up for the sweep points.

great job. those videos really motivated me. how old are you? how long have you been doing jujitsu? that was a really nice arm drag take down in the last video.

Hi ericd,

Thanks! I'll be 29 next month and have been training Bjj for 5 years or so. I like that armdrag a lot, I'm not very good at very many takedowns but for some reason that one clicks okay for me, lol.

Man I love watching the advanced guys. I competed at the US Open this weekend and got 3rd place. Where was Grappler's Quest held?

Sloth

This Grapplers Quest was in New Jersey last month. Congratulations on the 3rd place! That's awesome! I heard that tourney was a lot of fun (one of my classmates went out to Cali to compete in it).

What do you call the choke that you used in your first vid. That was a very impressive finish. I generally have problems with guys scooping my legs up like that as well, however, that choke may solve the problem. Thanks for posting your vids bro.

Hi Mullard,

It's called a loop choke (at least that's what my teachers called it when they showed it to me). It's one of my favorite chokes to try if someone goes under both of my legs definitely.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked the videos! I have a superfight next week and three more tournaments coming up after that in the next month and a half, so I'll definitely be posting lots more matches soon!

Thanks for the info. bro. I was experimenting with the choke last night during practice and i kept landing it. I'll be waiting for the post to watch the vids. and see you whoopin' that ass. Thanks again Sloth; you're truly an inspiration.

p.s. - Your jiu-jitsu game, imo, resembles an early form of Demian Maia's game a lot...

Thanks for the compliment and kind words! Maia is amazing! I like his slower (comparitively) style. I can't wait until he fights again!
