I got mine fitted at a dentist today for free since i know the girl who works there. i must say the fitting and the product was much better than whatever those mma mouthpieces sites are promoting.
i think most of those sites offer a 3 layer 3mm for their heaviest mouthguard and they usually only send 3 trays for different jaw sizes and enough putty to take one fitting.
I honestly just went in the dentist today cause i thought he would just help me fit it and mail it to protech or some other company. I had 4 different molds taken from me. one upper and front teeth one lower and another by the lip area. all these for one upper mouthguard. the bottom is just to ensure the mouthpiece fits with the bottom jaw perfectly. and when i saw their catalog, the company that did the work offered a 3 5mm layered mouthguard as their heaviest. the price was only 70-80 for the heavy and heavy pro so i ended up buying both.

i most likely will.
my orthodontist already told me he'd do molds for me if i ever need a custom mouthguard.
where do you order it from?

I'm going to be needing one soon. I've heard some things say that it's more expensive to go to a dentist to get it done than to order one of the do it yourself kits, but I don't know if it's true. You're are going to get a better fit from a dentist and it's worth a little bit more if it protects your teeth better.
Luckily my gym has a deal with a dentist in the area to have them made for just $50.

even though this is of the boil and bite variety; I get punched in the face all time and my teeth are doing just fine.

It does make sense to invest in a good mouthguard or two to prevent a much bigger dental cost down the road if an accident happens without a good mouthpiece.

its weird but it seems worth it. i think its probably cheaper if u had insurance or whatever. they take about 5-6 molds of different parts of your mouth. its not like the gladiators, protech or opro where they only have one mold. its like every section had its own custom mold section. i am pretty sure if i get ktfo, the mouthpiece is going to still be in my mouth.
