Anybody use this stuff to replensih vital nutrients while working out?
I don't.
I take 2 tbsp of honey before workouts and eat a banana in the middle.
But I bought one yesterday forgetting that it makes me feel sick and bloated even in tiny doses.
Anybody else feel like shit while drinking this stuff?
I drink Powerade or Gatorade while working out but I know that the ingredients in the Australian version are different to your versions. For example we don't have high fructose corn syrup in ours.
I feel the sugar gives me some extra energy. I don't know what kind of training you're doing but if I'm doing something at home I don't drink Powerade only at training (BJJ/MT/MMA).

how fucking long do you workout for??!?? shouldn't need to replenish unless you are going over 2 hours. I don't drink that shit but as an alternative when im surfing for 3-4+ hours i will get out of the water eat a teaspoon of salt and half a banana and drink a lot of water. Same thing.

this thread isn't really about how I use these to replenish... I was just wondering if it makes anybody else feel like shit.
but I workout for like an hour. and I'm a high sweater... I sweat a lot while training. within 20 minutes of hard training I am soaked.
i just down some honey before a workout, drink a lot of water, and eat a banana. i just happened to pick one of these up while buying bananas and it made me feel liek shit.

During wrestling the sugar would be too much for me. I'd pour out half, add an extra teaspoon of salt and fill the rest with water. Kept me hydrated after cutting a ton of weight. If you're looking to rehydrate look at pedialyte.

If you buy the powder Powerade mix it has sucrose instead of HFCS. Does that make that big of a difference?
Honest question here, my weight/workout sessions usually last id say 45-1hour and for some reason i always end up not drinking ANYTHING during them. Is this hurting me in any way? I mean DIRECTLY after i drink my super high whey protein shake and probobly a glass of water.....but i literally do not drink a drop of anything during my workouts.
Not doing this for any perticular reason, i just never have since i started working out regularly. Is this bad??

I do the same thing bro. I run full court basketball for like 2.5 hours and in between games I'll some water and just spit it out. Then afterwards I get home and do a designer whey and banana mix.

Yeah, sucrose is way better for you than hfcs. You'd be better off getting the gatorade mix with Dextrose. I've been told that Dextrose is basically a form of glucose.

it's hurting you. grab a bottle and fill it with water and just sip it through your workout. staying hydrated >>>> re-hydrating afterwards.

Coming back to this thread I have changed my mind. I was on sports drinks for about a year but now I've chosen to give them up because they make me feel like shit. I don't know if it's because I was training harder or something else but I've switched to water and creatine pills as well as a banana post workout to replace any electrolytes I've lost in my sweat.
N.B A year in total at my MMA gym not a year since that post.

A few sips shouldn't be doing things to you. My guess is that it is either psychological or you have some sort of intolerance to one of the ingredients. You could also just be coming down from the insulin peak--gatorade is designed to spike your blood sugar higher.
Pedialyte tastes like utter dogshit. But is good at replacing electrolytes.

Hey guys, it seems like no one has mentioned this, but there has been a lot of talk about drinking whey shakes post workout and whatnot. Most of what is being said is kind of partial truths.
There is an enormous amount of research on post-workout shakes.
You should be drinking a fast absorbing protein COUPLED with a high-glycemic carbohydrate source. The idea is that a after a workout, your muscles are particularly insulin sensitive for a brief period of time--typically two hours with diminishing returns over time.
The ratio is 2:1 to 4:1, carbs to protein that you should be using. The ratio will vary for personal taste. Quantity should vary according to weight and personal reaction (I find that if I use more it is more effective).
Ideally, you should be shooting for the fastest absorption of protein and the highest glycemic carb you can get. At present, the fastest protein absorbed is the pre-digested whey protein hydrolysate, and the highest glycemic carb source is maltose and maltodextrin at 105 (banana is 54 by contrast). http://www.bodyforlife2.com/glycemic.htm Some research has shown that dextrose (manufactured glucose) mixed with maltodextrin can yield an even higher insulin response, so a 50/50 mix might be appropriate.
Maltodextrin and dextrose can be found pretty cheaply at http://www.1fast400.com but whey protein hydrolysate is absurdly expensive, and since normal whey isolate/concentrate is pretty close, it might not be worth your while to get the slightly better version. Hydrolysate is also incredibly bitter tasting due to its production processes.
The only supplement I know of that has all of the various ingredients that research has shown to be superior is Biotest's Surge Recovery. I've never had it myself, but I hear it tastes incredibly good too (like angel food cake). It's a little on the pricey side, but if you can front the money, it's probably your best option.

I'll use Powerade or Gatorade powder to mix with the creatine and glutamine, but that's only before a workout.
