This news is exclusive to The Wrestling Heraldwrestlingherald.com and Wrestling Edge wrestling-edge.com. Usually I wouldn't post MMA news here but considering Mayweather's tie-in with WWE and the magnitude of this announcement I figured i'd post this:

I just got off the phone with a source very close to the situation and I am told that Floyd Mayweather and his representatives have been in contact with UFC's Dana White as late as Wednesday but "possibly as late as last night" according to the source.

UFC is expected to make several announcements on Thursday.

1) Anderson Silva will be fighting in the light heavyweight class
2) Chuck Liddell will fight in the main event on the September pay-per-view in Atlanta

However, the big announcement being rumored is that Floyd Mayweather will be signing or has signed with UFC. For those that did not read our last update, Mayweather announced his retirement from boxing. If this signing turns out to be the case this would be a huge coup for UFC as it would surely attract some of the boxing fans that have not given UFC a chance.

Mayweather recently was part of WrestleMania XXIV in Orlando where he participated in a match against Paul "Big Show" White. Mayweather was open to do a rematch but now with the UFC deal that looks to be off the books.

If the WWE had to pay him $2 million for a pro wrestling match, the UFC would have to break the bank just to sign him.

You never know. Floyd knows the fighters don't get paid as much in MMA, but there are so many angles he could come in here.

I guess we'll have to wait for see.

The kind of money that guy makes boxing, I wonder how much Dana will be forking out per fight. More than Randy, I'm willing to bet that much.

So, Floyd is going to be getting millions while his opponents will be earning thousands. Good luck Floyd.

If this is true, I wonder how many tomato cans they put in front of him to make him look legit.

So says Carmichael Dave of Sacramento sports radio station KHTK 1140, who posted a text message from White on the Sherdog.net forums last night. When questioned by Dave about Floyd Mayweather, Jr.'s rumored move to the UFC, here's what the shiny headed one allegedly had to say:

LMFAO! Neeeeevver! I have been in london and just landed in NYC! If I was gonna pay 200 million (dollars), it would be to mixed martial artists who fight their fuckin' asses off, not a bunch of pussy boxers that don't fuckin' fight. And you can quote me on that.

Who to believe, MediaTakeOut.com or Carmichael Dave? And if the text is legit, who's to say Dana's not flat out lying? I don't recall how much Brock Lesnar got paid for his first fight, but I'm sure it was a good deal more than experienced fighters on the same card were earning.
