View Full Version : What happened to the miracles?

Back in the bad old days God was pretty free with the miracles. He destroyed cities, turned women into pillars of salt and curdled milk.

But now there are no miracles. So what happened? Did God just get bored with the Earth and go elsewhere? Maybe he got a heart attack after eating too much fried chicken and died? Maybe he's been steadily losing his power and the invention of the refrigerator was too much for him? Who knows.

So the question I ask all my Christian friends is "why are there no more miracles?"

God would directly interact and speak to people, then he stopped and only spoke through prophets, for 400 years until Christ came and after Christ was here and did all he was foretold to do, his purpose was fulfilled until the time which he will return again. So we are now under grace and the miracle is that before you can even think and speak the words, God knows whether you trust in Him or not.

Do you acknowledge that all the biblical prophets before Jesus were divinely inspired messengers of the one deity?

I acknowledge that all the minor and major prophets recorded in the Word of God are true prophets. Not after Christ.

edit: yes of one true God. All others are false prophets. If their word does not mesh with the Bible then it cannot be true.

How can one prophet oppose and often contradict anothers ‘scriptures’ if they r all inspired from a single divine source?

To believe what you just said is to live with many contradictions and inconsistancies.

...the miracle is that before you can even think and speak the words, God knows whether you trust in Him or not.

That's it? That's the last remaining miracle, something that God could already do because he's omniscient. Sorry but that's pathetic. Could someone recommend to me a real religion with a God that has some power?

if God already knows our thoughts and hearts then y is there a need to ask him personal favours via prayer?
The concept of asking God for help or favours via prayer is redundant..Its similar to a child asking his parents for this and that when the parents already know what the child wants, and more importantly, know whats best for the child.

seriously, God knows the outcome of your decisions and you still have the choice. Even when Satan entered the serpent, and also Judas, There were still choices to be made, by Eve, then Adam, then Judas. They still could make their own choice. The choice was wrong. I cannot speak for the serpent, for which it has not the Holy Spirit within it as we do.

Now that is a miracle. God knows that I'll drink Coke at lunch tomorrow, but I still have the choice to drink Pepsi if I choose too. What a mind fuck. It's like one of those Salvador Dali paintings where the piano is being sodomized by the piano stool.

miracles still happen daily, the only difference is that nobody acknowledges that they are miracles from God.

science happened

"Everything happens for a reason" I think science is God's logic:sifone::popcorn:

Look at all these natural disasters, forget cities, this guy's taking over the world!

they don't contradict each other. at least not the ones whose words are recorded in the Bible. if Billy Joe-Bob came up to me today and said some bullshit i'd laugh at him and tell him to fuck off because he's not a prophet.

If they happen daily it should be easy for you to give examples then.

How butterflies are born is a miracle. Science cannot explain, or even peer into the mechanisms at work inside the cocoon.

Miracle: (n) An event or effect contrary to the established constitution and course of things, or a deviation from the known laws of nature; a supernatural event, or one transcending the ordinary laws by which the universe is governed.

Caterpillars turning into butterflies isn't a miracle, its a natural occurance. Women turning into pillars of salt is a miracle. Feeding a crowd with 3 loaves of bread is a miracle. Walking on water is a miracle. Being swallowed and living inside a whale for several days before being spat back out is a miracle.

Either give an example of a modern day miracle, or admit they don't happen anymore.

There are no acts like this today, because those are things that Christ did. Christ was 100% man and 100% God at the same time and existent in the same body here upon earth.

So all the miracles in the old testament - all the stuff Moses did etc never happened?

Christ DID live in the belly of a whale.

God spoke to Moses directly through christ.

It was Jonah in the Belly of the well, just as Christ was dead. It was a prophecy

So the miracles died with Jesus? Have there been none since then?

Jesus isn't dead, just like the easter bunny isn't dead.

But will you please answer the question. Have there been any miracles since the time of Jesus? Say after 100AD if you're going to nitpick.

Wouldnt know... I wasn't there to witness anything. I only have the written account of what happened and the effects of it upon our world as proof. This doesn't have anything to do with miracles. I know that anti-christs and false prophets will perform miracles in the last days. Causing people to believe in them who do not know the truth.

How butterflies are born is a miracle. Science cannot explain, or even peer into the mechanisms at work inside the cocoon.

Inside the chrysalis, the caterpillar becomes completely liquid and reforms itself into a butterfly. The butterfly pushes from inside and slowly struggles out, until the case splits open.
