ninja, just get fast cable modem package like i said in the other thread. cable is amazingly stable, at least where i live. for the last 12 months there was a total of under 10 minutes of downtime for me. if you get at least 1 mbps upstream, there shouldn't be any problems whatsoever. it would be much much cheaper than getting a T1 line too.

if you do it and need help setting up a linux box as a dedicated server, i will help you out no problem. in fact, if you do have a hard time setting it up you could actually just let me log in and get a console shell via SSH.

you can always change the password after i log in so you can be certain i'm not trying to 1337H4X you. maybe replace every image file you have to a picture of a tranny. the possibilities are endless. do something though! this is the most unreliable server evah!

yeah theres some serious problem going on and the worst part is Ive been real busy lately and unable to work on it fully, I'll probably switch to a dedicated server sometime not sure if I wanna host from my house although I might do that for the radio station Im planning

ninja, if you want i'll host the site for free. you'd have exclusive full control over it. my linux server box is on 24/7/365 and has apache2 + PHP module. i have mySQL on there too. i'd make you an account on it, and you can use SSH to log in and do what you need to do. i'd set up an FTP account for you too.

you probably don't trust me enough to do that lolz. the offer is on the table. it wouldn't be any slower than the german server. in the last year, i've lost the connection for a grand total of about 10 minutes..

what is the average amount of traffic at any given time? i can upgrade my cable modem plan from 5 mbps downstream and 512 kbps upstream upload to 16 mbps down and 3 mbps upload. i've been meaning to do that anyway. it's only like another $10

hmm, another idea is that you could just keep the current host but i would run a 24/7 real time mirror of the site. if there is any way to keep the SQL database synced. we'll just make sure everybody knows where to go

actually you may not even have to do that. when you get hosting plans, the machine with your SQL databases is always separate from the actual server machine.

i don't think you'd have to do anything except send this site's files to my linux box with an FTP client. that way, i wouldn't even be touching your database and i have no ability to be malicious.

within 5 to 10 years, i bet internet hookups that are as fast as hard drives will be commonplace.
