I fought an ex-Iranian 3rd degree black belt a number of times. I found that due to the focus on kicks in TKD, if you attack them with hand techniques and a lot of forward drive, you can keep them off balance.
Remember that even though you are not allowed to strike the head, noone said you can't feint an attack to the face. Aim a feint at the eyes and follow up with blows to the body, then move back. Then move in again a half-beat later just as he begins to regain his composure. That last bit of advice is from A Book of Five Rings, and Musashi calls it "holding down the pillow". Works great in my experience.

Musashi was a smart fighter. I love how a book of five rings can be used to dramatically help your fighting and business approach in under 75 pages. I've been reading it for years and still see something new everytime i read it.

TAE KWON DO

Tae Kwon Do is legit. Ive been training in TKD since i was 5. Granted we could punch and kick to the face because it was American TKD and kind of a Karate/TKD hybrid. But TKD kicks are very effective and can be easily adapted to kickboxing, mma, etc. Look at Cung-Le and GSP.

Olympic TKD is IMO a very lame sport however. I don't understand how you can allow kicking techniques to the head but no punches. Yes its a sport and sports have rules to protect the players but this rule just seems dumb.

You have the wrong attitude for martial arts. You should look forward to the opportunity to test your skills against a more skilled fighter. Learn what you can from this experience and fight to the best of your ability. Don't fight to "beat his ass" or "fuck him up". Fight because its a good test of character, enjoyable, and honorable.

If you dont respect your opponent chances are you're gonna end up like rampage. Fighting is much easier if you look at it as a intellectual and physical chess match. Thinking of beating someones ass will induce anger and urgency in your fighting, when cunning and clear thought are necessary.

i tried tkd by me and i was jsut asking questions in a curios manner not being a dick in the sligth bc i was jsut wondering why my sensei who was supposedly like a 4th degree black blet or some shit was teaching us rediculous flying spinning kick and he decided to demonstrate on me and in his demonstaration naile me in the face while my guard was down...im one all abou trespect but that was rediculous and even though i was jsut a whitebelt i have alot of experience so i got angry and told him that would never work and he told me to try to fight back to see how it works and i did and tossed him on his head and broke his collar bone...
