The best part is the story behind it. It's long but I'll break it up into pieces and trim it down.

I went with one of my best friends. We went to kindergarten together and have been friends for 20 years or so. Since our birthdays are in the same week, we always do vacations together with a friend named josh. So it's Brian, Josh and I. Our last big trip was a week in vegas. Before that was a long weekend for a convention in Indianapolis.

This time we went big and planned out the cruise. We planned about a year in advance. About three months before we were supposed to go we had to pay a non-refundable deposit of $250. No big deal, since we had 9 months to save up whatever we wanted.

About 3 days after we all paid the deposit, Josh says he can't go. Since we were saving a bunch of money by going with a 3 person cabin instead of 2, he fucked up the money situation and we didn't have enough put aside. So he effectively ruined our vacation three days after we could have saved our $250. And it was because his girlfriend told him he shouldn't go.

So we're pretty fucking pissed at him for this. Brian calls his travel agent a few days later to tell him the situation and cancel whatever we have to cancel, when the agent tells him that not only will he be able to roll us over into a 2 person cabin for a comparable price, but Josh's $250 will just be added to our cost, reducing our price even more.

We just spent a couple days guilt-tripping Josh, and we don't want him to know that we can still go yet, so we don't tell him. Then we decide that we don't want to tell him at all, until we get there and send him a postcard saying "wish you were here". So we kept it secret this whole 3 months, left without telling him we were going, and sent him the postcard from Nassau, Bahamas on our first stop. He got it and is not talking to us now. :)

We also got all the people on board to sign another postcard telling him how much fun he missed and how he should have come. We told them that he would have come, but he had a sex change operation. One of the girls that signed the card even wrote "sorry we missed you, enjoy life as a woman".
