That was the only fight where I was 100% sure on the winner and I was wrong. I reckoned that no one can sub Ishida, Uno surely can't outwrestle him, and he's not nearly good enough at striking to stop him. I was wrong on all accounts. aussjj 05-11-2008, 12:22 PM It was pretty awesome. War Eddie. MMA~FAN 05-11-2008, 12:25 PM Apparantly Kawajiri and Uno were staring each other down when the broadcast stopped. We can pretty much book that one in for the next round. That fight should of gone to a 3rd round. Eddie didn't win, the fight was 1 round to 1 round. Hansen deff belongs in the top 10 if not for some horrible luck in his last fights. Since his loss to sakurai the only other real loss hes suffered was to aoki. He lost on a bs DQ to Kawajiri who just wanted an easy win 8 seconds into the fight and he lost a BS decision to Eiji Mitsuoka. And now while hansen didnt beat alvarez it deff was a draw that should of gone to a 3rd round. Eddie clearly won round 1 while hansen clearly won round 2. D.O. 05-11-2008, 07:11 PM Yep but now you got Alverez in it. War both fighters! I'm a huge Eddie Alvarez fan. I picked him to win that fight, but no, not yet you don't. He's still a 2-0 fighter at the weight class. Beating an unranked fighter in a great fight isn't enough to rank him. Not in the deepest weight class in the sport. The top 10 isn't for dudes who are exciting, or guys who belong ther if not for some luck. It is 100% based on accomplishments. He's just not there. The division is waaaay too deep. I give him props though, he fought a great fight. I'm not hating on him for that, or even for being an exciting fighter, which he is. He's just not one of the 10 most rank-worthy fighters in the deepest division in the sport. He wasn't before, and he (obviously) isn't now. And yes, as mentioned before, it isn't the 10 point must system. You 100% cannot use that system with an uneven round structure. Eddie more than deserved that win. aussjj 05-11-2008, 07:59 PM I'm a huge Eddie Alvarez fan. I picked him to win that fight, but no, not yet you don't. He's still a 2-0 fighter at the weight class. Eddie more than deserved that win. The top 10 list can be one of 2 things, one based on record of recent events or one based on skill. I refuse to have my top 10 of any division based solely on recent events not taking into account skill or luck involved in recent fights. That is why i would never have someone like jardine ranked higher then arona or lil nog. They both have been koed by soku recently and have been very inactive but their skill set is way higher and would both prob beat jardine. Anyway thats the way i consider what top 10 is. No - Bas even said during the fights about 10 times they judge the whole fight. Which I still think could have went either way as Hansen had him close to being subbed D.O. 05-12-2008, 01:24 AM Well BJ and Sherk are also 2-0 so it doesn't really work like that. BJ and Sherk have been ranked at higher weight classes in the past. That does hold some weight. Eddie hasn't ever been close to being ranked. These two wins aren't enough. These two wins aren't enough. But now he has a chance to prove he should be ranked. It is hard for a guy with a great record like his to be ranked because the competition he's fought didn't really have a name to them. But now that there is some top quality fighter's in the tourney, he has a great chance. Every legitamate top 10 list is all about accomplishments. The fact that you suggest otherwise, makes me wonder why I've ever debated you on this subject. I'm arguing about actual rankings, and you're arguing about who you think are better fighters. The purpose of a top 10 list is to rank the currect top 10 guys at a weight class based on what they've accomplished. It's meant to be a snapshot in time to show how successful guys are at a certain time period, in a certain weight class. If I look at a top 10 list 10 months down the line, and it's the same, because the person making it is just ranking who they think is the most talented guys, it's a waste of the 10 seconds I'd spend looking at it, because it'd be complete shit and wouldn't tell me anything. YOu mentioned luck too... How do you decide what is lucky and what isn't? Other than everyone who beats Hansen of course. You just can't do it. It's far too subjective. This is a sport and there is a winner, and a loser. It just doesn't make any sense to look at it any other way. So I guess if I'm talking rankings, and you disagree with me, you can probably just save it, with the basic knowledge that we're obviously not talking about the same thing. ItBurnzWhenIP 05-12-2008, 03:37 AM If he beats anybody else in the tournament hes in the top 10 - that would put him in the finals after defeating Dida, Hansen and more than likely Aoki. He should be comfortable seated in teh top 10 Obi Narb Kenobi 05-12-2008, 08:14 AM top 5 if he beats dida, hellboy, and aoki at some point. i think dream wants aoki and kawajiri in the finals and i think they would figure aoki has the best chance at beating eddie so i would guess aoki/eddie and kawa/uno so if he beats aoki, kawajiri, hansen, and dida, not only should he be considered top 5 one can make the case for him being top 3 CreatureCore 05-12-2008, 03:06 PM Every legitamate top 10 list is all about accomplishments.
