View Full Version : ninjitsu/ ninjas
Chickenjorge 08-25-2006, 11:16 AM i was watching that show on national geographic. fight science. and i was wondering if there's any mma fighter that uses this type of martial art. or if it can be used effectively in mma.
it seemed pretty good, good balance, and good techniques, hitting in certain spots in the body like nerves, etc.

Thats the link to Scott Morrisī data on sherdog. He was a ninjitsu guy.
ninjashoes 08-26-2006, 03:13 AM Dont listen to people who claim to know ninjitsu or anything about it, its a lost art form and noone knows anything about how an actual ninja would train or what tecniques they would employe. Ninja's were all about stealth and using whatever they could to win. They didn't always walk around in black masks either, to be a ninja you had to be an expert disguise artist. The closest thing to a ninja from ancient Japan would be a CIA operative or a goveremnt spy. A ninja knew how to get close to someone and make that person like them just by using charisma and body language then they would get information that they needed. Some ninja's would hide inside a stinky toilet for hours just so they could shuv a sword up someones ass.
My best guess is that they used their own forum of jujitsu and I don't mean BJJ with no strikes or throws I'm talking about the real thing tested on the battlefield. All that palm strike of death type shit are just rumors the ninja's started to make their enemies think they were more than human. Most people though ninja's were descended from demons. Ninja's loved using guns too as soon as they could get their hands on them. A modern day ninja would probably own a sniper rifle and a silenced pistol. Theres even rumors of modern day ninja's lending their services to greedy japanese corporations but that stuff is most likely bullshit because the ninja's truly are extinct as is their art form.
xhale 08-26-2006, 05:06 AM jennings was his name i think? the guy who won ufc 3?

Very well said! People do claim to study ninjitsu, but I donīt think that they claim to be actual, traditional ninjas. Itīs just the art. I think itīs kind of like when one trains in archery, but not because he wants to be able to shoot people wit his bow, rather to just having it as a hobby. And archery was all about killing something in the old days
ninjashoes 08-26-2006, 09:17 AM Yeah I agree, I doubt what any ninjitsy practicioner actually does is anything close to the true art though I mean we barely know what jujitsu truly looks like in all its forms and it was well known unlike ninjitsu.
Fantouz 08-26-2006, 01:59 PM No one can really know if their art form has died or not. It could be a family thing which they like to keep for themselves. + I would guess that their old training methods that we see in the movies, documentaries, etc would be redundant in today's world; they must have adapted to modern times.
JoeSon 08-26-2006, 05:21 PM ninjitsu is quite an interesting subject.
ninjashoes is a ninja master

There are families in Japan and spread allover the world that try to preserve the teachings. Who knows what it involves I've never spoken with one of these families and you probably have to paint their fence or something to prove your worthy or possibly sand their deck.
Another myth is the one about the black suits. Ninja's in reality would dress to match the people around them to blend in. They would infiltrate the enemy by befriending them as opposed to sneaking in their house. Like I said more like CIA than ninja turtles. Check out wiki for stuff on ninjas!
beetsh 09-05-2006, 01:15 PM i saw a program - mind body kick ass moves - and it had a guy called hatsumi in it - claimed to be a ninjitsu teacher. old japaneese guy.

Even though we most probably have no ninjas these days (choosing my words carefully :) ) you have to admit that the Fight Science show was very interesting.
The link was posted here at ninjashoes but for those of you who can't be bothered looking its

JoeboCop 09-23-2006, 07:44 PM Awesome post rob, thanks for that vid
No problem, I figured people here would enjoy it.
Silent Flute 09-28-2006, 02:00 PM With regards Ninjas wearing black - it is more likely that they would have worn dark navy suits since a black suit would outline you in the darkness, but yes - they would have utilised disguises - often wearing the clothes of the mountain monks (Yamabushi - i think they were called) which is probably where the philosophical/spiritual connections stem from. The story of Ninjas waiting in a "toilet" stem from the death of a Samurai Warlord who died in this manner (although i can't remember his name) and it is far more likely that he died of a heart attack whilst straining on the bog and that the ninja story was invented by his close clansmen in order to protect his honour.
Silent Flute 09-28-2006, 02:20 PM P.S.
Yeah you're right Xhale - Steve Jennings (a policeman) was the alternate substitute who won the final of UFC 3. He claimed to be a Ninjitsu practioner.
ninjashoes 09-29-2006, 12:24 AM check out this, real ninja

brianlacross7 10-16-2006, 10:25 PM Some guy who practiced it fought in one of the early UFC's but he got beat by Pat Smith. He really didnt have a chance to show any moves. The fight was maybe 10 seconds long.
pinkybrief 10-27-2006, 06:55 AM is ninjashoes that ninjashoes dude in the OT forum at sherdog? (just wondering)
skunknuts[ADR] 11-11-2006, 06:12 AM I really wish ninja's were around, they'd cause mass chaos, because they swiftly murder victims, and quietly slip away, if people really knew "actual Ninjitsu" the crime rate would sky rocket
ninjashoes 11-11-2006, 08:18 AM is ninjashoes that ninjashoes dude in the OT forum at sherdog? (just wondering)
yeah
dimutri 11-15-2006, 11:37 PM I actually have just started practising ninjutsu. It is a mixed form that has striking and grappling having moves raging from kung fu to aikido. It has weapons as well. It is not as if you are a real ninja but it is really effective.
Gratification 11-16-2006, 01:12 AM so whats up with tai jitusu? i saw a few vids on youtube and it looks exactly like jiujitsu mixed with some point sparring
really wish the guys would learn to wrestle

You should give us a rundown of a typical class.
leebyun 12-14-2006, 09:05 AM that art is extinct..or changed to a form not true of what nin jitsu is..
Vikeif 12-30-2006, 02:27 AM i think the last remnants of ninjutsu are in bujinkan (look up in wikipedia)
don't know much about it, but has trace elements of what we would label ninjutsu
