Sorry if this is in the wrong place but does anyone know where I can find the Meldrick Taylor vs. JC Chavez fight? I haven't seen it in some time and that sherdog article really sparked my interest in it once more.
Thanks

the debate rages on! I must say there's arguments for both camps but in the end, look at how meldrick ended up. He was in the hospital for like a week after that. I guess he may have survived the remaining time but what if he had taken a couple more shots?

2 seconds to go when he stopped it... btw the time remaining is always the argument, but I think its irrelevant. Even if there was 2 minutes to go, Meldrick should have been given the chance to continue. He got up on time and when he was asked if he wanted to continue he nodded his head yes, which shows he was rocked but still conscious.
Im still unsure about the stoppage.
Taylor was ahead but he'd taken a horrible beating and he went down hard in the 12th.
His face was bloody pulp and he was very woozy, one more shot could have caused permanent damage.
Steeles whole argument was that he didnt know there was 2 seconds remaining and that his job is to protect fighters.....but who knows.

never shouldve been stopped... 5 seconds to go...steele you fucking asswtf? why blame steele? blame lou duva for jumping around on the corner distracting meldrick taylor when steele was asking him if he was alright.
apart from that, taylor would've won the fight after, but he paid a huge price, his face had alot of fractures, and his slured speech was also first developed on the chavez bout and after he continued boxing it got worse by the beating he was taking by other boxers.
I do sometimes dread to think what could've happened to Taylor if Chavez rushed him and landed one more bomb.
In hindsight its probable he wouldnt have had the time but the whole argument boils down to Steele and did he know there was only 2 secs left.I believe there was flashing red lights signalling 10 secs remaining but whether steele saw them in the heat of the moment of Taylor getting clocked is debateable.
i also believe that if u take out the notion that there was 2 secs remaining it was a very justifiable stoppage.

Yeah Duva deserves a lot of the blame, I still dont know why he was on the apron.
And yeah Meldrick took a terrible beating from Norris and Chavez, its a shame, he was really fun to watch. Its not often you see an extremely fast, skilled guy like that who just loved to run in and bang.
